So Shirley Sherrod is not going back to the Ag Dept.....

I kinda suspected she wasn't going to take the job offer. It took a lot of soul searching, I'm sure. She must have suffered a great deal of pain. I'm sure just the thought of being employed there day in and day out made her head hurt, even tho she wants to go back as an advisor.

It's really sad that this happened to such a good person. Moving on is probably best...

Best of luck, Shirley. You deserve it!

1. Don't blame her. I wouldn't either.

3. At first I thought "good, she'll get an even better job and something good will come of this."
But as the time dragged on I suspected that she was not going to do it. I'm sure she has other offers that would give her wider opportunities.

I really hope she is healing now. She looks like a strong woman. But betrayal can wound deeply, perhaps more deeply than a death...

2. Ah well - it's to be expected - hung out to dry over phony drama.
The whole thing is embarrassing.

4. She should have been offered her original job back! The fact she wasn't speaks volumes.

5. She was betrayed. How could she ever trust her superiors at Agri again?
Good luck, Mrs Sherrod. You made the right choice.

7. Plus, the pain in her heart and soul.
Here was a woman for whom race reconciliation was a goal in life. To have such an appalling thing happen to her is horrible.

Breitbart was bad enough, but we don't expect anything more out of the likes of him. But Vilsack and his minions were despicable. It's a terrible miscarriage of justice. Her heart must be broken...

8. Yes. Vilsack et al didn't even bother to listen to her. Vile.
Punish the innocent; promote the guilty.

11. So she is lying because she insists
that it was the White House and not her bosses at USDA who were behind her ouster? I don't see how she benefits from that.

9. This woman is neither a spring chicken nor a dumb cookie.
Ag is a hotbed and they wanted to put her on the hotseat. Thank you, no. Consulting is the ticket. GO SHIRLEY!
