U.S. drone attack kills 13 militants, 7 civilians

Missiles fired from a U.S. drone aircraft killed 13 militants and seven civilians in Pakistan's North Waziristan region Monday, Pakistani intelligence officials said.

They said the missiles were fired at a militant hideout. Most of the militants killed were members of the Afghan Taliban, the officials said, but four women and three children were also among the dead.

"The missiles hit a militant compound and a house adjacent to it. We have confirmed reports of 20 dead," said one of the intelligence officials...

U.S. officials say the pilotless aircraft are a highly effective weapon against militant groups. But civilian casualties in the strikes have angered Pakistanis.

2. A week from now, it will be 1 "militant" and 19 civilians
But nobody will be paying attention by then, and besides, who cares about a bunch of people half a world away? It's not like they can do anything to us in retaliation.

Oh, and just so you all know: This is nothing like what happened under the Bush administration, and is in no way comparable to that. But we're not going to investigate any war crimes or crimes against humanity or other violations of the Geneva Conventions, because that would just be looking backwards to the past, instead of looking forward to the future.
