1. Tell that to the world. It's become an international incident.

2. That leaves out the gambling establishment RIGHT DOWN THE STREET
There's a gambling establishment literally right down the street from the Cordoba Center... 25 Park Place, look it up :)

4. The Towers were a gambling and scam house of epic scale themselves
Of course with our state religion it makes perfect sense that the site of avarice and greed would be holy ground.

8. Maybe *we* should co-opt the language this time.
You know, so that we would have the "Ground Zero Strip Club", "Ground Zero Off-Track Betting Parlor", the "Ground Zero Century-21 Department Store", etc.

I mean, if they can call it the "Ground Zero Mosque" when in actuality it's neither at 'Ground Zero', nor technically is the whole building a 'mosque', yet they have the whole world talking about the "Ground Zero Mosque" (or, for the real whackjobs, the "Ground Zero Victory Mosque")...

Damn it, I guess that I used to spend my drinking time at the "Ground Zero O'Hara's Restaurant and Pub" on Cedar Street when I worked at 130 Liberty Street.

6. Credit the Artist?
Edited on Fri Aug-27-10 11:04 PM by hibbing
Hi,
Like the cartoon and thanks for posting. I want to share it with others but am having a hard time finding the artist at the website found on it. Help please? On edit, I guess just leave it as it is and no artist seems to be identified on the site that I can find, just the site itself?

Peace

12. I found it here
http://politicsreport.com/news/dumbest-controversy-history-mankind

It still isn't credited, though the submitter seems to be someone named studio7manga. Can't tell if it is an original creation of that person or what.

9. Just, yeah
People cannot find jobs and those that can are being abused. (Target, Walmart.)

Just had a conversation with a neighbor about this. So, just sayin'.

14. Does anybody really believe
That the people making all the noise about this mosque actually give a flying fuck about it? Really?

Does anybody really believe that Rush actually believes anything he says?

Does anybody actually believe that Bush, Cheney, Mehlman et al really gave a fuck about gays one way or the other?

Because they don't, and didn't, and still don't. This is just a way to get their base worked up (because their base actually does care, or thinks they do) and to keep us fighting them on things that they don't care if they lose. How much time is spent arguing about what Rush said this time, or whether gays should marry, be shunned, excommunicated or whatever when that time and energy could be put into a real fight, like social security, putting money into this country instead of bombing others, rebuilding at home?

Seriously, this BS is just a distraction.

16. It's sad commentary
that the exploitation of women's bodies is fine and dandy. Pron shops. Strip joints. This is just as American as Mom and Apple Pie. Our nation and patriarchy is built on the backs of poor and working women.

I'm no fundie prude, but women, who without them, we would never see a Democrat as Prez, are just dandy as sexual objects. That's what they're here for...right, dudes?

When progressive males come to realize that patriarchy is a pack of shit, only then will we have true change.

It's funny....our culture demands that women bare their bodies while the Muslim culture demands they are covered completely. As Shirley Chisholm used to say: "Men are men."

18. Personally, I don't have a problem with the mosque-- OR the porn shops.
And if some group wants to buy land in NYC and put up a 100 foot tall statue of Andrea Dworkin holding Larry Flynt's scrotum in a death grip, they should be allowed to do that too.

I never cared either way, but now I'm bored to near tears by it.
