Yet another WTF moment while talking to a RW friend
I've known this guy for years - in most respects he's a perfectly sensible person, warm and friendly, just about everyone I know likes him. (I only know him professionally, he is a regular karaoke singer at the bar where I host). Not stupid by any means, quite intelligent, though a bit OCD. Which I can relate to since I am also. Not much of a drinker usually, excellent singer. But a total RW nut job and doesn't keep it to himself, has to break the normal taboo and talk politics in the bar (quite loudly sometimes).

So he's outside the bar smoking a bowl and needling those around him about something or other politically related, and (knowing better, but somehow unable to resist this time) I say, "you know, Democrats are trying to make your pot legal!" And without missing a beat, he says, "And that's wrong too!" I am dumbfounded. I say, "So you'd rather smoke it illegally?" And he says, "Yep!" I just shake my head and start walking back inside - he calls after me, "And I'll use CAPITALISM to buy it!"

At which point my poor head explodes.

*sigh*

1. Not stupid by any means? I'd rethink that statement.

2. You can be intelligent and still allow yourself to be brainwashed.
I think that's what's happened to a fairly large chunk of America. Wonder what he'd say if I told him Fox News was owned by a foreigner and its second-largest donor was a muslim Saudi prince whose donation after 9-11 was refused by Giuliani.

5. Which Democrats are trying to make pot legal?
Certainly not Obama or any other national level Democrat with the sole exception of Kookinich.. and he is matched on the Republican side by Paultard.

Indeed, the US Senate just recently passed a bill doubling the penalties for pot brownies, the vote was *unanimous*, that means every single Democratic Senator voted for it. The bill was introduced by Dianne Feinstein and sponsored by Evan Bayh and Chuck Grassley.

6. Why is discussing politics taboo? That's part of what's wrong with this country.

10. Only taboo in a bar. Leads to physical altercation when mixed with booze.

8. I know a thrice married and divorced former Pentecostal minister
Who believes gay marriage will destroy traditional marriage.

The first two didn't want to put up with his crap and the third was a "Gentleman's club" dancer that took him for everything he had.

13. I have moments like that all the time
The other day I got an explanation of how the libruls hatched the cap-and-trade plot to drive up the price of electricity, so that everyone would be dependent on government subsidies and vote for the democrats who give them the money to pay for it.
