1. If it actually had anything to do with restoring honor to the honorless--
Edited on Sat Aug-28-10 06:59 AM by vixengrl
he could work from home.

Edit to add: my vote is fascism with clown shoes.

2. Can he even spell the word?
He certainly has no concept whatsoever of the meaning.

A slime mold out in the woods has 10 times more honor than Beck could dream of having.

5. The top four categories are the essential reasons for his definition.
He's and ego maniac and likes his money.. On the other hand "restoring honor" is a racist call out. and it reinforces facism (look at the sponsors).

He simply chose two words that his audience responds to in a generally positive way, and put them together.

14. Apparently you've not much experience dealing with psychosis
-the man quite literally is mentally ill -as are a number of his followers.

There isn't any making sense of delusional people.

There's only putting them in situations where they can't harm themselves or others.

to grasp the fact that there's no making sense of what patients or clients say or do at times.

One person stands out in my experience.

She was a court reporter in her late 20's who was developing schizophrenia. She appeared "normal" in terms of affect and surface ability to follow a train of thought, but had gotten into trouble with the Court Reporters Board because some rather odd colloquy's had been appearing in her transcripts.

I should stress that in every other way, she was a functional person, seemed to have reasonable stable living arrangements and no trouble with day to day affairs.

Except that (after a couple of appointments and being confronted with some of the records) she claimed that "the government" had planted "receivers" in her body and even produced from her purse in tissue what looked to be metal flecks that she claimed she'd peed out and recovered from the toilet.

These were the sources of the aberrant lines in the transcripts.

This was something of an extreme and disturbing example, but mental illness and delusions tend to follow something of a spectrum within their diagnostic categories. Hence, we have the Michelle Bachmann's, the Virginia Foxx's and Glen Becks who do "get by" yet are nevertheless out of touch with objective reality- and will say (and fervently believe) all sorts of bizarre often inexplicable things.

I guess the inmates are now running the asylum.

19. Yep- a bit unnerving, isn't it?
But that's the state of the corporate media and the publishing companies in 21st Century America.

I long ago figured out that Beck wasn't faking it.- the man's ill.

Not with an AxisII personality disorder on the lines of Ann Coulter- but with an Axis I clinical deal of some sort that affects his cognition and emotion.

That these people are exploited for corporate gain and agendas actually bothers me as much as the fact that they're taken seriously or "given a stage" for their rantings.

I wonder if he'll ever get to the point of where he's tampering with the Forces of Nature... And must atone for his sins.

25. Bingo
As far as sins and atonement go- fervent religiosity is common characteristic and driver of behavior among people with certain forms of mental illness.

Nothing that the man says or does would surprise me.

Nor would what his followers do surprise me.

Go back and look at some of the rantings of the Old Testament prophets for example.

No question in my mind that some of them were experiencing major psychotic episodes (as opposed to the ends of the spectrum that don't quite so obviously reach that stage).

26. Thank you, Bro!
The parade of awardees was so out of the blue and so awkward and ill received by the crowd, it had to be for the money men. That is what Fox will show over and over to lure back advertisers.

28. Seriously, what does that mean?
Is Beck implying that we are not an honorable nation already? I guess he must be if he believes its honor must be restored. So restored from what?

It's hard not to see this as a plea to return to a time when the rich white guys were in charge of everything and minorities knew their place. Glenn is all about white priviledge IMHO.
