Tropical Storm Earl and the Carolinas
Be prepared DUers

Earl will be a Cat3 hurricane and the Carolinas are in the cone.

1. Hope ya'll have your hunker-down kit together.
We Floridians know to get that pulled together at the beginning of every hurricane season, not just when a storm is coming. Good luck!

3. Nah, I don't think so
I think it will hit north, NJ to New England. There's also a fair chance it will stay out to sea.

The one following it might be another matter, entirely.

4. Nothing is certain but you may be right
Many are saying Fiona is the one to worry about but we're not sure who should worry yet. Earl may hit some of the Leewards, the Virgins and Puerto Rico on the way to 'wherever'. :D

Jamaicans worry about the male storms - I'll be keeping my eyes on Gaston whenever he appears. We have all our hurricane supplies - yesterday we stocked up on water.

6. Hey, neighbor!
I'm fairly new to the area, and don't want any hurri- or himma-canes heading this way!

:hi:

7. The name Earl made me laugh even before the Dixie Chicks song.
Do you know about Coco's on the Beach?

And there's an amazing inlet about 500 yards up from there at high tide.

The Salty Dog?

The only...or one of the only actually cool T-shirts for natives to actually wear.

(Mostly only tourists wear HHI emblazoned gear)

It's half price for natives at the bowling alley...show your ID.

It's an older demographic.

The bag boys and cart jockeys are 75 years old.

Check out Silicone Sister at either the Bluffton or Hilton Head Wild Wings Cafe if you get the chance. Really fun, satirical 80's tribute hair band.

Watch for Soul's Harbour also. A real damn good band that may be able to break into the big time.

:hi:

Stay in touch!

9. Thanks for the info; my cousin lives in Bluffton
and her DH works in a jazz band all over the place, so they will be familiar with these places. I will stay in touch!

10. You can only get to Coco's by entering the Hilton Head Beach Resort
And you gotta pay $5. Go to the far back end of the lot. There's a boardwalk that's about 1/4 mile long over to Coco's but if you don't feel like walking there's a golf cart "trolley" about every 10 minutes.

Once there you get your $5 back with your first order.

To see the inlet I was talking about, come out of Coco's to the beach and make a left.

You'll see a rock jetty in the distance. That is the inlet. It can get about 3 ft deep at high tide. At low tide its a couple of inches.

It's one of the best spots that tourists don't even bother with.

8. LOL
So far this morning I've seen Jim Cantori and Mike Seidel on beaches on North and South Carolina. Still you may be right.
