He's obviously high. That's it, I bet, he's some kind of a druggie! It explains a lot: emotional motility; sweating; irrationality. Boy, I'd love to look in his medicine cabinet.

BTW - I've been wondering about his personal life. Family? Kids? Marriage? Does he even GO to church?

Load of crap is an understatement!

73. Since this was an event about religion
I'm guessing his message with this Bible story is the quite common one of faith and using what God provides. That to Moses, initially, all had was a stick.

79. That doesn't add up
It would make sense only if Moses really, really wanted serpents but all that fate provided was a stick -- until he figured out how to turn one into the other.

What Moses had was a staff, anyway, not a stick -- and he only pulled the old conjuring-trick of turning it into a serpent because Pharaoh's magicians had done it first. And then his staff ate their staffs to prove that he had the biggest, baddest staff on the block.

I'm not really sure that was the message Beck was trying to get across.

This has always been about him and his narcisstic ego. He cobbles together topics, mangles history and is a racist as far as I am concerned.

He knew exactly what he was doing by picking this day.

I am hoping that this one event pushes Democratic citizens to come out in droves to vote in November. I hope for the Independents to finally realize that the Republican party has fallen off the edge of the cliff...and come out in droves to vote in November.

50. "Glen Beck's Sermon on the Mall" is what this should be
called. I haven't listened to more than a half an hour but, I have heard better sermons in church. His is mediocre. He is using metaphors and quotes from the bible and movies without crediting either and so many trite sayings that I can't believe any one would sit through this in a church if he were an unknown visiting preacher.

Is there anyone in Washington DC today who could find out exactly where this crowd came from and how they got there? I'll bet most were bussed in from various churches, most notably the Church of Latter Day Saints around the country.

57. Synopsis of the last few minutes.
Wow. Rambling, disjointed insanity. No script that I can discern. I came in a a little late. Can't wait for the transcript. Just the last few minutes in direct order. (I ain't messing with the continuity at all here)

911 = good times.

Titanic.

Faith Hope Charity! (Love, Valour Compassion! Okay, that was me.)

Pray on your knees to the creator and king and make your kids watch.

Tell the truth and let it hurt you. America is crying out!

Charity begins at home.

Choose between going forward or letting the country fail. Look to Washington Monument and Praise Be To God.

Rely on define providence. But you must believe. Firm reliance in the storm when the ship is tossed. (Titanic again?)

Children will be Slaves to our debt. (so subtle)

You have responsibilities. Glenn warns you that it will be a blessing, but also a big curse. Because you no longer have free will. You must serve the Lord.

Vietnam, Korean vets. (starting to cry) George Washington gave up being a surveyor. Last string, have I not done enough. And the answer is, no get on your horse because God is not done yet.

The Age of Enlightenment = America setting man free.

Serious ill child. You fall to your knees and said "Give it to me instead!" We must take it on for the children.

Give 10% to your church. Sticks and burning bushes and 20 bucks in the collection at Glenn's church. Charity comes from our Churches and synagogues.

Glenn was in the fetal position. Dishonored. The truth will set you free. After it makes you miserable.

America always save the world. But we need to go to boot camp. So we can save the world again. And lead them down the stairs, out of the building and to safety.

We gaze on things that pull us off track. We must do them with a spouse by our side. And we must insist that our churches stand for what is true. Stand! Take a stand! We mus stand for the truth.

240 years ago, England hated the preachers.

Big crowd! They are violating the airspace to take our picture!

Preachers were killed during the American Revolution. Because it was the preacher who said "All men are created equal". They have been gone for 240 years, but they are back today!

240 men and women of all faiths are standing here today. Start the heart of America again. Our heart with God! But not those who preach to kill another man!

180 million people are represented here today. Thousand are willing to do the right thing. Do not have fear. Do not get lost in politics. The media will say he's crazy, but we are all people find ourselves in incredible times. We have made mistakes. We can disagree but we agree God is the answer!

Choose today to change your life, we will change the world. Take the 40 day challenge! (Pepsi?) Change your life. Protect clay pots. They are our children. Pledge to restore honor and we will leave freedom better than we found it. Somewhere in the crowd is the new George Washington! He's only 8, but he's seeing giants today.

Now he's sobbing a little.

Little George Washington will someday proclaim "I have a new dream!"

Will we wallow in scars? We choice to wallow or we learn and ask for redemption.

Tomorrow may never come. But we have today.

John Newton was a slave ship captain. Bad guy. (voice breaking). He had eyes, but he could not see the horror. Until he was in a storm on the sea, and said Lord Help Us! And he did, but he followed through. (?) He became a guy who wrote the best song for the bagpipes. He wrote Amazing Grace. He was blind but now he sees.

Bring out the bagpipes.

And out come the bagpipes. Black man sings!

Holy cannoli, Batman. I'd be disappointed if I Teabagged all the way down there.

74. Yahoo News quotes him saying THIS...
"Beck paced on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial and spoke through a wireless microphone headset. "For too long, this country has wandered in darkness. ... Today we are going to concentrate on the good things in America, the things that we have accomplished — and the things that we can do tomorrow."

Don't you find that a thinly veiled reference to a black President? What the F*** did he mean "WANDERED IN DARKNESS"?

83. Every word he says, every move he makes, everything he stands for is
designed to connect to the racist fear in racist whites without being overt. He and his followers have some inane need to cling to the denials of being racists.

76. Did you folks see the Yahoo article

It mentions some of the Sharpton rally folks meeting up with some of these folks and one lady in the Beck crowd yelled to the Sharpton folks to (paraphrased)..."Restore your government with peace".

I don't get it.

77. I didn't get ANY of it. The whole thing was the rant
of a lunatic, imo.

I mean, if anyone pays any attention to this nutjob after this, I will be shocked.

78. This is the new talking point. Someone brought it up on C-Span this am.
Some Republican caller called in and told Al Sharpton that he wasn't representing MLK because the theme of his march is "No Peace Without Justice".

The Tea Baggers have apparently grabbed on to this saying that Sharpton is denigrating MLK because MLK advocated peace and that he was not advocating for peace. You know, because Tea Baggers are the real truth tellers and protectors of MLK's legacy.

Sharpton pointed out to the guy that he got the phrase from MLK when he was working for him as the youth leader of his New York chapter of the civil rights movement. That didn't sway the guy. He insisted that MLK was about peace and Sharpton was misrepresenting him.

Sharpton told the guy he needed to listen closer to what MLK said.

82. Doesn't matter if he makes sense or not.
Edited on Sun Aug-29-10 12:31 AM by SmileyRose
He's perceived as angry and against the brown people by the other angry white haired white people who are scared shitless of the basic fact brown people are gaining power. Making sense has nothing to do with it. It's all about the fear - the emotion.
