200,000 rally on the National Mall
No not today, FoxBeck could only draw a few tens of thousands.
I'm talking about the 2003 march against the Iraq War that Shrub was about to start.
Funny how hundreds of thousands came and almost no news coverage. Same with the earlier march in New York that was half a million strong.
But today, this idiot is headlines.

2004 March for Women's Lives

The April 25, 2004, March for Women's Lives drew a record 1.15 million people to Washington, D.C., to protect and advance access to a full range of reproductive health care options, including abortion, birth control and emergency contraception. The such march that was not organized solely by NOW, this massive event was coordinated by an unprecedented coalition of women's rights and social justice groups — led initially by six core groups: NOW, Black Women's Health Imperative, Feminist Majority, NARAL, National Latina Institute for Reproductive Health, and Planned Parenthood, with the ACLU joining the leadership in the final months. Activists came from all parts of the country, angered by the anti-woman policies imposed by President Bush, making the 2004 March for Women's Lives was the largest protest in U.S. history.

3. Damn, you beat me to it.
I was there, too. :hi: And I was appalled how the media totally blew it off- CNN spending the day chasing Bush-leaning "NASCAR voters" and talking about Estee Lauder.

2. How about 1.2 M in April of 2004, for reproductive choice? And the media totally ignored it.

4. I was there in 2003; we got virtually no coverage, and it was much bigger than today's Beckfest.
Of course, the Washington Post was the biggest cheerleader of all for that wonderful war.

Props to those posting here about reproductive freedom marches, too. Apparently only Fox News anointed ones get that kind of coverage.

http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=Washington%2C_DC%2C_Mass_March_and_Anti-War_Rally_September_24%2C_2005

The Washington, DC, Mass March and Anti-War Rally September 24-26, 2005 was initiated and organized by two antiwar coalitions, A.N.S.W.E.R. (Act Now to Stop War & End Racism), on behalf of the September 24 National Coalition, and United for Peace and Justice.

"Starting on Saturday, September 24, three days of protest, grassroots lobbying, and civil disobedience are planned for Washington DC to protest the Iraq war and the militarization of US society. Given the way public sentiment has turned against the war, this could easily turn out to be the largest pro-peace event in US history." <1>
