Republicans envisioning big gains in the November midterm elections pointed to Tuesday’s Florida primaries as another piece of evidence of a widening “enthusiasm gap” that favors the GOP.

Both Republicans and Democrats had high-profile statewide primaries on the ballot. Despite outnumbering Republicans by more than 612,000 in Florida, Democrats saw 912,044 voters for the Democratic Senate primary, while nearly 1.3 million Republicans cast ballots in the GOP primary for governor.

Turnout was about 32 percent for Republicans and 19.7 percent for Democrats.

Rest of the article at link above.
“The enthusiasm gap is real and it is growing,” crowed Tallahassee-based Republican consultant Rick Wilson.

7. That's how Scott Brown got elected in Mass. interim election
The tea baggers were fired up and the Democratic voters just weren't that interested. Taking their base for granted has a price that all Democrats may have to pay.

2. How this compares to prior years?
We had really low turnout for Democratic primary in May, but there were no truly competitive races. It was the GOP that had the competitive races, such as the one in which Dan Burton was challenged by a tea bagger.

3. In Alaska, the numbers are about three to one for repugs.
The Democratic party may well lose every seat except our uncontested ones, which aren't a whole lot.

5. I'm sorry to say that I will. These remarks by Simpson should
not go unpunished. I've never ever heard such rhetoric about ss recipients from anybody of whatever political persuasion. I don't understand why Obama hasn't fired him, unless he wants a republican to take power after his term is over. What other reason could there be? I just don't understand it. Of course, perhaps the powers that be have already decided who will be President after Obama, and it just doesn't matter; voting machines, you know?

6. You are going to sit out because of one idiot?
Did you see the Beckopolluza today? You are willing to allow that ilk to run this country again?

I will vote in November and I will encourage everyone to vote.

9. Agree...
No way I'm sitting out. I may not be happy with everything right now. But for ME (and I'll only speak for myself) the alternative is down right scary. There's no way I'll help the Repugs regain any power. Especially given how fringy the one's with the most power seem to be.

There is no excuse good enough to risk allowing the Becks and Palins to take over this country.

10. Without some context, this is bullshit.
The repugs had every reason to come out to vote. Scott and McCullum were in a really nasty runoff and the Dems did not have many reasons to vote other than for Meek. Polls showed him up by almost 20 points.

We'll see in November.

14. Only the most recent polls had Meek up by 20 points.. I doubt many voters were aware of it..
Furthermore, if a scumbag scoundrel like Greene could not motivate a voter I am not sure what could.

11. Rick Scott and Marco Rubio will turn out Democrats. There won't be an "enthusiasm gap."
It will be a repulsion gap.
