You guys panic too much
I could get a few hundred people to come watch a turd. If I polish that turd I could get a few thousand. If I give the polished turd it's own TV show, in the case of Glen Beck, I could get thousands to come.

In the end, it's still a turd.

13. Slightly different
Beck will never have his finger that close to the football. W is part of a family that has been in the political elite of this nation for a long long time. Those bastards are so connected with money, intelligence (not smarts, secrets), and legacy, that they are still a force to be reckoned with despite dipshit screwing up so badly. His name still carries enough weight to keep him set for life.

Beck is the flavor of the month. He will flame out or fizzle soon enough. He is the type of guy that will eventually do something stupid or end up on some psych ward somewhere. He'll be a footnote.

9. Yup. You can polish a turd all day long, and
Edited on Sun Aug-29-10 02:40 AM by Jamastiene
in the end, it's still just a turd, which is all Glen Beck is. Let him sing his stupidity from the rooftops. He is an ignorant asshole. Let him keep sticking his foot deeper and deeper and eventually he will say something even his own stupid followers will hate. Then, he'll go down in flames and end up a used up has been. Geez, it is a simple equation people. Hate the current crop of idiots from the right? Wait a while and they'll fuck their own schtick up and shrivel up into obscurity. Time is the constant. They always fuck up and they always disappear, eventually.

In the meantime, laugh at their asses. Point out how absurd they are and move on. Life's too short to waste it obsessing over 15 minute assholes like Glen Beck.

in the middle of bloody nowhere for a music and bush poetry festival...

ABC rural reporter Scott Lamond is at the Gympie Muster in south-east Queensland. "A winding dirt road leads you into the hills of Amamoor State Forest, where the attraction, in the middle of a tent city, is 13 music venues," he says.

...This year, money raised from the Muster's rural aid appeal will go to Angel Flight.

Angel Flight is a charity that co-ordinates non-emergency flights to help country people trying to deal with the triple trouble of bad health, poor finances and daunting distance. All flights are free and may involve patients travelling to medical facilities anywhere in Australia.

Hitler, anyone?

A talented spokesman out front of a cabal of the wealthy and powerful?

16. Politics As Pagentry And Blood Sport...
Our political discourse moves further and further from substance and into symbolism. It's not what a candidate stands for (most blow like the wind...especially when that wind carries large donations) but the "wins and losses". It's the posturing...the stirring up the base to build up their own "cred" and political warchest and power...or ego. Our corporate media loves the conflict...it attracts eyeballs and revenues and there's one agenda-driven network that generates the conflicts the others all but fall over themselves to echo.

Yesterday we saw a classic case as people are counting heads as if this symbolizes some kind of political "movement" or trend...as if the team that has the higher attendance is somehow more popular. From what I'm reading, except for the bundle I'm sure Dreck walked away with in money and free promotion, the wingnuts felt they were fleeced...no red meat, no screaming tirades about the "socialist A-rab" and too "kumbaya-ish". In a matter of days this non-story will be replaced with another Fauxrage...and the bloodsport and beat goes on...
