And that seems never ending. The Feds are even paying for part of the interest costs on state borrowing through the build America Bond program and may be asked to step in if any states are in danger. Moreover what is the race to the top money? Looks like education funds to me.

2. Point taken. IMHO this cartoon illustrates the Republican hypocrisy of using the public treasury to
bailout America's oligarchs while ignoring social services that justified the creation of a public treasury in the first place.

Cartoon over-simplifies the situation because local government typically funds social services.

3. Except they are pinning all the bailouts on us.
Education will be an ongoing concern. In fact Obama needs to get on the lapse of the Bush fax cuts because there are some education expense credits that are going to lapse.

4. rttt is a very small part of education funding. ed funding is being cut back at the state level, &
rttt isn't making up the shortfall, nor is it being equitably distributed. it's a competition, & only some get it -- in return for instituting anti-teacher, anti-union policies.
