Glenn Beck's Hypocritical Revival

Glenn Beck looking stunningly chic while wearing the latest

by John Avlon

The talk sensation looked more like a televangelist at his “Restoring Honor” rally this weekend, but his preaching about unity only proved that his biggest adversary is himself.

The Rev. Glenn Beck staged a religious revival on the National Mall in Washington yesterday.

His “Restoring Honor” rally sidestepped politics, instead offering a tribute to the troops and calls for a new Great Awakening, proclaiming “We’ve got to go to God Bootcamp,” to the applause of hundreds of thousand of followers.

But the most striking thing about Beck’s heartfelt evangelism was its hypocrisy.

1. Beck's dedicated more than two years to dividing this country and
then expects to bring it together, to unite it at a two-bit religious revival.

2. I would have liked to hear the expectations of the crowd prior to the love fest...
And if they felt cheated when they left.

He's spent years whipping these people into an evil, racist, hateful froth... and now he gives them a phony love in? That can't have gone over well.

4. What 'solutions' did he propose?
How does he intend to 'fix' anything? What are his ideas to create jobs, keep America safe, stabilize the Real Estate industry, prevent the next economic crash?

I didn't think so.

5. None of that stuff matters
All that matters is that Beck succeeded in using his own bullshit to make the teabeggers feel good about themselves.
