Montrose Elementary dismisses early because of smoke

Students were evacuated Monday afternoon at Montrose Elementary School in South Charleston after smoke seeped out of the boiler room.

There are only a few lines remaining of this entire story, in my hometown "news" paper and there is no epic picture, but what's wrong with the picture that this short story brings to light, in the mind's eye? Kids being sent home from school early, because they were "in harm's way" at their local grade school. MEANwhile the republicans worry about tax cuts for the rich which are set to expire and forgetabout the kids...Family values your ass! Billions of dollars a week still being spent on Bush's wars. But it would increase the deficit too much, if we really did "leave no child behind," in a school that is not UL approved, or riding on a school bus crossing bridges that are beyond their projected date with the wrecking ball and dodging chug holes around every curve? Maybe if we wrap our kids in an American flag they'll be protected from "Values" politician's "entitlement" axe. But I doubt it.
