If Liberals nominated Jesus Christ for the Supreme Court....

If Liberals wanted to appoint Mother Theresa as Secretary of state, the 'conservatives with compassion' would fire off tirades of recrimination.

If Liberals insisted Elvis take the position as the head of FEMA, the redneck Republicans would set the 'good ole boy' network to attack The King.

If Liberals decided Superman was the best person to head the Department of Homeland Security, the teabaggers would get their rocks all riled up over his citizenship status.

If Liberals ressurected Reagan, and put him on a ticket for President, Rush Limbaugh would erect a monumental movement to smear the Gipper.

If Liberals nominated Jesus Christ for the Supreme Court, even the 'religious right' would get their fundies in a bunch and demand he be dismissed for 'not sharing their values'.

If Liberals do anything, nominate or elect anyone, suggest any plan or course of action, the entire wingnut brigade will fight it tooth and nail. They don't know a damn thing that they are for, they don't understand a damn thing about how government is supposed to work and what it's for, and they haven't a damn clue what is in their best interest, but they truly believe that participation is as easy as simply opposing everything the other side is 'for'.

I figure we could keep Obama in office forever if we suggested impeaching him. ;)

1. Um question...
Edited on Mon Aug-30-10 05:35 PM by AsahinaKimi
Why would we want to have Reagan be President again? He was a horrible President! Not only that he was a Republican and a Tea Party Hero.

4. It was entirely demonstrative.
Of course it would never happen (even were he alive). The point is merely that they'd oppose him just because Liberals were for him.

9. Still think it was a bad example.
Do you really think if Reagan were alive and running and Liberals were behind him, Right wingers would balk?

Its like..If Liberals were some how (Stupidly) behind Glenn Beck that right wingers would no longer pay attention to Beck? Seriously, think about it...

2. I'll expand on your "Jesus" nomination ...
If Obama nominated Jesus to the supreme court, the GOP would claim that Jesus was too "empathetic", that he was friends with prostitutes, that he had questionable ties to the middle east, and that he was not a Christian.

5. Too True.
They might also go on about how he never married and had close personal relationships with a number of men.
There's all that 'turn the other cheek' stuff that would make him look soft on crime and terror.

Let's face it... Christ would just be far too liberal a candidate for many Christians.

22. Loaves and fish
entirely socialistic redistribution of wealth.

He defended lepers, now if they weren't enabled by his ilk, they would have a reason to avoid leprosy.

"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall inherit the earth" WHAT kind of pinko nonsense is that? I mean everyone should render their pruning hooks into swords, or even better AK-47s and kick some commie butt!

Jesus get with the program!!!!!

6. Part of an earlier post I did on Reagan being Obama's Supreme Court nominee
What we’ve been hearing from other drunken, former Meth addicts in the news that it has been confirmed, President Barack Obama has chosen the ghost of former President Ronald Reagan to replace Justice Stevens on the United States Supreme Court.

LFN news was there covering the Republican Response to this shocking announcement:

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and John McCain held a press conference within minutes of the announcement”

Sen. Mc Connell: Quite frankly, I am disappointed. The President never called me once to discuss putting Reagan’s Ghost on the Court. This is another example of the President’s arrogance in not dealing in a bi-partisan manner.

Sen McCain: The President has chosen another person whose shown poor judgment. I would be deeply concerned over what kind of decisions a man who said, “Deficits don’t matter.” would make.
Oh... And I'm not saying this because I'm bitter that I lost.

Senators Shelby and Sessions held a joint conference in Selma, Alabama that was attended by a guy we paid 15 bucks to video the conference:

Sessions: I can’t think of a worse choice. The President is either unconcerned with the Constitution or he’s getting really bad advise. This choice makes me wonder if he isn’t just really arrogant.

Shelby: I have to agree. I wonder if Obama isn’t really trying to destroy this country.

(The following exchange was picked up by the camera)

Sessions (whispering): Who did Obama pick?

Shelby: No idea.

House Members were also quick to jump in on the President’s choice:

Rep Boehner: My concern over this rests on Reagan’s questionable patriotic behavior. He met with Gorbachev how many times? Never once did he lay down the law. He engaged in negotiations, which only served to weaken America and our subordinates…I mean allies.

Rep Cantor: I’d go a step further and ask, “How do we know that Reagan wasn’t giving the Soviets our nuclear launch codes? I’m not saying he did, but there’s always that high degree of probability.

Former Senate and House members also gave their views on the President’s choice:

Newt Gingrich: Appallingly bad choice. Reagan signed the highest tax hike in our nation’s history. You can bet he’ll be the voice of the tax-and-spend liberals.

Former US Senator Rick Santorum was a guest on CNBC:

Rick Santorum: A horrible choice. What was Reagan’s occupation for most of his life? He was an actor. An actor who will bring those Hollywood values to the Court. He won’t be a voice for America’s oppressed majority: God-fearing, white, Christian, patriotic, conservative Americans.

Fox News Sean Hannity hosted Sarah Palin, Oliver North, Michelle Bachman and Jonah Goldberg to talk about the nominee:

Hannity: So, you disapprove of this poorly thought out choice?

Palin: You betcha. Here again Obama is pushing one of his terrorist friends on good middle-Americans.

Hannity: Terrorist?

Palin: Yes. Does anyone remember Khomeni? He was a terrorist.

Bachmann: And an Islamo-fascist.

Palin: Reagan sent him a cake. I’m sure he probably called him and sang Happy Birthday to him, while they talked about hating freedom.

Bachmann: Everyone remembers Iran-Contra.

Especially after that time that I healed that Roman centurion's "servant". Even the Pharisees understood what was up with those guys.

26. Yes, Jesus was indeed a Liberal.
http://www.jesusisaliberal.org/

Welcome to "Jesus is a Liberal"

We created this website because we believe the historical, Biblically documented teachings of Jesus
Christ clearly show that Jesus is a Liberal. His philosophy, based in compassion, equality,
inclusion, forgiveness, tolerance, peace and - most importantly - love, is 100% Liberal.

For 20 years we have seen the growing domination of the radical right wing evangelicals on TV, on
the radio and in the news, newspapers and magazines and in politics - claiming to own a virtual
monopoly on Jesus. They have redefined what He meant and used His name to advance their
radical right wing social, business, governmental, political and military agenda - or as President
Bush calls it their just and righteous Crusade. We strongly object and disagree.

We reflect the views of over 150 million Liberal, Progressive, Tolerant and Independent thinking
Christians, Catholics, and others of all spiritual paths, religions and traditions in the USA and
Canada. Together, we reject the radical right wing Republican evangelicals' claims that they alone
represent the will, expression and blessing of Jesus Christ. We believe it is high time someone
stand up for the Liberal, Progressive, Tolerant and Independent thinking majority's position that any
plain reading of His words, any genuine interpretation of His intent, outline a Liberal, Progressive,
Tolerant, Loving and holistic world view.
