Will YouTube be on high alert for Quarn burning videos?
Even if Jones and/or Phelps don't have bonfires burning, more than likely, others will.

I think it can be expected that at least a handful will find their way to YouTube and/or other video hosting sites.

If not out of anger or hate... some would do it just to stir shit up or for the lulz.

I'm just wondering if any of these sites plan on keeping a closer eye on things than usual.

3. It's a owned privately service/website...
censorship rules don't apply.

From their TOS/guidelines...

"We encourage free speech and defend everyone's right to express unpopular points of view. But we don't permit hate speech (speech which attacks or demeans a group based on race or ethnic origin, religion, disability, gender, age, veteran status, and sexual orientation/gender identity)".

"Should" they? In my opinion, no, but I don't make the rules or own the site.

5. Hmmm, thanks.
I'm kind of surprised they left those videos up (post a video of your kid dancing to Justin Bieber, and they'll yank the video or cut out the soundtrack).

They can have some strange TOS enforcement at times. I guess this is one of them.

7. Why are you surprised? Justin Bieber songs are protected by
copyright and someone has obviously notified YouTube that his songs may not be offered on YouTube. That is a legal issue. Burning Bibles or Korans or Gone with The Wind is not illegal, even if it is a fairly stupid thing to do. So, why should YouTube prohibit videos of that activity?

I'm a little surprised that you didn't bother to check YouTube before posting this thread. Had you done so, you'd have known that such videos are already there and have been for some time.

It's always best to check your premise for accuracy before demonstrating that you didn't bother.

Unrecced for lack of due diligence.

9. In case you haven't noticed...
YouTubes policing polices are inconstant.

A person will post a music video of their favorite performer or clip fro a TV show, and it will be yanked within minutes.

Yet... in the sidebar there'll be links for the same performer or TV show, some of which have been up for months or more.

I posted their policy regarding "speech which attacks or demeans a group based on race or ethnic origin, religion, disability, etc".

Do the Quran/Bible burning videos meet the criteria?

Apparently not to YouTube (but due to their inconsistent enforcement there's no telling if they haven't deleted similar previously posted videos).

12. Actually, burning a book is only burning a book.
That someone is offended by the burning is not the point. The video, itself, doesn't attack or demean any person or group. It demeans a book.

Don't get me wrong. I'm opposed to burning any books. It's a stupid symbolism, because what is in the book is not destroyed...only one copy of millions.

I can't answer questions about YouTube's enforcement of its TOS. I'm sure there's a contact page on that site, though. You could ask someone there, perhaps.

13. Actually, depending on distribution rights, YouTube will allow copyrighted material...
...but they restrict it to certain regions. Someone from the United States can post a Comedy Central video, but someone from Europe may not and it will be taken down.

That's why you will see videos of certain performers being allowed by other YouTubers. There's also fair use that must be considered.

In this case a book burning video will likely be allowed no matter what the book is, simply because the person videoing it will own the copyright.

4. There are many videos on YouTube of burning Korans. Try
different spellings and you'll find them. There are also a number of burning Bibles, Books of Mormon, etc. on YouTube.

Most of them are not recent, and they span a long time period.

Did you think it would be otherwise?

14. Will they also censor beheading and terrorist recruiting jihadi videos?
I think those incite quite a few people, too.

I was looking for an old video of a famous Scandinavian comedian burning the bible, but it was nowhere to be found :-(
