Silly moustache man John Bolton at it again, says we must nuke Iran now!
We must attack Iran before it gets the bomb
By Toby Harnden in Washington
Last Updated: 1:56am BST 17/05/2007

John Bolton, who still has close links to the Bush administration, told The Daily Telegraph that the European Union had to "get more serious" about Iran and recognise that its diplomatic attempts to halt Iran's enrichment programme had failed.

Iran has "clearly mastered the enrichment technology now...they're not stopping, they're making progress and our time is limited", he said. Economic sanctions "with pain" had to be the next step, followed by attempting to overthrow the theocratic regime and, ultimately, military action to destroy nuclear sites.

Mr Bolton's stark warning appeared to be borne out yesterday by leaks about an inspection by the UN's International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) of Iran's main nuclear installation at Natanz on Sunday.

The experts found that Iran's scientists were operating 1,312 centrifuges, the machines used to enrich uranium. If Iran can install 3,000, it will need about one year to produce enough weapons grade uranium for one nuclear bomb.

Experts had judged that Iran would need perhaps two years to master the technical feat of enriching uranium using centrifuges - and then another two years to produce enough material to build a weapon. ......(more)

2. Real law is closing in on the criminal junta
They need diversions, ANY diversions. Doesn't matter how many innocent people die, they just have to divert our attention from their evil deeds.

4. Why does bombing them prevent them from ever having nukes, too?
It's like fighting them over here so we don't have to fight them here. Has nothing to do with it, doesn't put it out of the realm of possibility. We could bomb them, and some of them could still be left to discover how to make WMD.

It's so goddammed stupid. :banghead:

7. Transition from nuclear energy level enrichment to weapons grade is monitorable.
Press and administration have always muddled the distinction between enrichment for purposes of energy and much higher levels of enrichment needed for bombs. I don't think Iran has ever said they intent to enrich to high levels needed for bombs.

11. "Silly" is not the word I'd use for Bolton, or any of this junta.
Scary, evil, relentless and seriously disturbed are more like it.

12. To be fair (which I don't like to be when it's Bolton!)...
he's not actually recommending *nuking* Iran. It's the Iranians that he thinks are going to have nukes.

However, he certainly seems far too fond of military solutions to problems. I'm sooooo glad he wasn't confirmed as ambassador to the UN. He was on Question Time here once, and he came across as absolutely nuts.

14. Yesterday, Bolton insulted BBC Radio 4 reporter John Humphrys
in a radio interview. He told him his "brain is empty", and that regarding Wofowitz he's a "grave-digger".
