CNBC to host live, commercial-free town hall with President Obama on Monday

As the United States heads into another election season, the state of the U.S. economy remains on the forefront of every American's mind.

On Monday, September 20 at 12 p.m. ET, CNBC will host a one-hour commercial-free special town hall event with President Barack Obama live from the Newseum in Washington, DC.

At 'Investing in America: A CNBC Town Hall Event With President Obama,' hosted by CNBC's Chief Washington Correspondent John Harwood, the president will discuss and take questions on the state of the economy, jobs, housing, the markets and other important issues.

CNBC.com will be providing full coverage of the event, including a live blog, video, and reports from behind the scenes.

Good, good, good. It's always good when Obama gets to present his case unfiltered. He also does very well in these townhall settings, especially when the questioners are not "friendly".

This is a good idea.

1. One thing
These things would be much better without the presence of a smirky "host correspondent" from the Georgetown Cocktail Party media.

2. When he talks directly to the people
it really helps make his case. It's when everything gets muddled by the pundits that he loses ground.
