I have seen from John Glenn and JFK to Lady Gaga and Charlie Melancon. A world and possibly more of change, but still a world in dire need of even more change.

I was born before there was an AFL. Before the Minnesota Twins or the Los Angeles Angels existed. I am so old, I knew Central Park when it was just a tree.

On this night two years ago, my Father died. DU was there for me. Your love helped me survive the terrible days that followed. You cannot know how true that is. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

Almost 2 years ago my dad died on my mother's birthday, Dec. 31, and his memorial service was on my birthday 6 days later.

I went to Cambodia before John Kerry did. I was in Beirut before it "blew up". Yep, I'm old too!

Sorry for your loss on this day! I can sympathize there too. Less than a year ago on Pearl Harbor day my father died too. Thanksgiving this coming year will be a different experience.

And many years before, my cat died unexpectedly the day after Christmas.

(Twenty years this December my dad will have been gone, btw. Not a day goes by I don't think of him, miss him terribly, mourn his absence at my wedding, and wish I could just talk over things with him. But, at the same time, I'm glad for his sake he never had to see what this country has become. WWII vet, lifelong Dem with a deep, abiding love for the U.S., who described FDR in one word: "Savior"... It would have killed him. Literally.)
