You might want to watch Law & Order tonight
Edited on Fri May-18-07 10:14 AM by ayeshahaqqiqa
Seems the season finale is about a very nasty politician who is a former senator now running for President--apparently the writer's revenge for an actor who was very demanding on them. Might be interesting to watch.

Edited to add quote and link:

The writers of tonight's episode had fun winking at the curious notion of one of their own making a bid for the White House. Why else refer to Hamlin's over-the-top villainous character as an "ex-senator and presidential candidate"?

7. I don't think I've watched it except in reruns since they moved it from Wednesday night.
Moving shows around like that is how networks lose their loyal viewers.

9. That was the problem. It will be moved again next year
this time to Sundays at 8pm Eastern. It also won't premiere until after American football season stops in January. Boo hiss.

15. No Fred as DA. He is GONE
Very likely that Sam Waterston will play the DA next year.

5. Yep. He's out
even if he doesn't run for office. The likelihood is Sam Waterston's character, Jack McCoy, will become DA and a younger person will become the EADA and lead actor.

Last week, the writers made FDT as Arthur Branch state that the way the government has treated veterans was disgraceful. You could watch him fighting to keep from frowning and spitting it out.

6. Last I heard
There was a very real threat that L&O and L&O:CI were both on the chopping block and Dick Wolf (whats a dick wolf?!?) had to go to the studio heads and make a personal plea of some sort. Maybe shifting McCoy is part of the deal he made.

8. CI will be on cable and then rerun on NBC
I believe. L&O has to cut down expenses next year, and yet Sam is a large drawing card--I think that kicking him upstairs, as it were, could mean a reduction in salary commensurate with the reduction of air time. The young woman cop is gone, and there is also a possibility that Jesse L. Martin will not return.

Wolf signed a contract with NBC that goes through 2012. He's intent on beating Gunsmoke's record for longest running drama. L&O will be seen on Sunday nights at 8pm Eastern, and won't premiere until January, after American football season is over.

I need my issues dumbed down even more than what could be presented on network TV.

at making points about how our Iraq vets have been shabbily treated. I felt it was a good statement on the state of our country.

12. hurray, he's going?
Ah, Hollywood and US network TV have become safe for "liberals" again. L&O has actually been back to its old tricks for much of this year. Last week was about the horrific conditions at, ahem, Walter Reed Hospital, and desperate military attempts to cover them up. It didn't pull many punches.

And ER last night had a suicidal ex-military interpreter who kept repeating over and over, in Arabic, "please don't hurt me, I didn't do anything wrong", because that's all he'd heard being said by the Iraqi prisoners as they were tortured, and so he now had himself a full-blown case of ptsd as a witness/self-perceived accomplice. And the VA hospital had sent him home with no aftercare available for months ...

14. Expenses was one of the problems
I see that Criminal Minds another excellent show is going to debut on USA and the first six shows will be there. And then go to network.

I really truly believe that cable has the best shows. The writers are more mature and the shows are also. I know some people like the so call reality shows, they appeal to the younger crowd.

But when I was in that category, I never hardly ever watched TV. Now some of the old shows I did not watch are on TVLand and I watch. And the people I associated with did not watch them either...all the same age group. So why the devil is the network trying to appeal to this age group....because they are a bunch of air brained writers.

18. I just hope that the actors on the show don't leave
FDT is not an actor, imho, compared to S. Epatha Merkerson, Jesse L. Martin, or Sam Waterston, all of whom have won awards for their work on stage and screen. If you ever have a chance to see any of these fine actors in a play, GO. It is well worth it.

19. I hope they get rid of the two young women as well.
I stopped watching this season because of them. Although "Cassidy" has grown on me a little bit, that ADA is awful. S. Epatha Merkerson better not be leaving-I will definitely stop watching then.

20. I was watching an old Roseanne show the other night
Thompson played the role of an asshole boss @ Wellman's Plastic where Roseanne and all of her friends worked. Thompson's charactor put the screws to all of the workers but especially Roseanne so she lead a walk-off, they all quit.

It appears that they had type-cast Thompson for the role

there are many who would call him 'nasty'.
