Rumsfeld's resignation letter remains elusive
Rumsfeld's resignation letter remains elusive 15 May 2007 The Bush administration is keeping a tight hold on Donald Rumsfeld's resignation letter nearly five months after the former defense secretary and Iraq war manager stepped down.

The Pentagon says it does not have a copy, and the White House office likely to hold the letter is not subject to the law that allows the public to seek release of government documents, the Freedom of Information Act or FOIA .

A defense official, who declined to be identified publicly, on Tuesday chalked up the close hold on Rumsfeld's letter to the existence of few copies.

"I suspect there's only one copy of that and it went to the president (sic)," the official said.

Reuters filed FOIA requests for the letter with the Pentagon and White House.

2. Or maybe he went nuts on Bush for certain tactics they don't want mentioned.
A refute of Bush's policies in a resignation letter, namely that mentions illegal activities would not only be an embarrassment but it might open a whole huge investigative can of worms and bad PR.

3. Right, I think Rumsfeld will eventually be tried for war crimes,
along with Tortureboy (Gonzales).

5. Last I heard, he still had an office at the Pentagon.
That was a ways back.

11. Same happened to me at the last job I was fired from.
Edited on Fri May-18-07 01:44 PM by Louis C. Phurye
They set me up in a nice office next to the main office, they still paid me, I still had the keys to the place, oh and the owners often times consulted me on different business proposals before they went forward with their plans. But yeah, I was fired and didn't work there anymore.

6. Rumsfeld has set up DHR Holdings, LLC
...according to The Moonie Times, 18 May 2007:
http://www.washingtontimes.com/national/20070518-120156-5953r.htm (Scroll to 'Rumsfeld update,' page 2.)

Former Defense Secretary (war criminal) Donald H. Rumsfeld has moved to new offices on M Street Northwest where he is working on setting up a new foundation, according to Larry Di Rita, a former Pentagon spokesman and Rumsfeld aide.

Mr. Di Rita said a news report that Mr. Rumsfeld would go into the defense contracting business is false and "laughable." He noted that Mr. Rumsfeld has shunned the defense industry since the 1970s, after his first stint as defense secretary. "He has no interest in that stuff," he said.

Instead, Mr. Rumsfeld, who until recently worked in office space in Rosslyn during a transition from the Pentagon post, has set up DHR Holdings LLC.

"He's considering a lot of things but he wants to remain engaged in public policy issues and is in the process of creating a foundation that would involve teaching and research fellowships for graduate and post-graduate students," Mr. Di Rita said.

The goal is to promote continued U.S. engagement in world affairs in furtherance of U.S. security interests, Mr. Di Rita said.

10. Yes, but Rumsfeld will only run the Reichwing think tank...
until his war crimes trial commences. :)
