And the article (which has been posted here in the past few days) is good, too!

....He just isnt going to waste 18 months of his life doing something he can do in 8 month.....once Hilary,Obamba...ect wear themselves out he will step in and be a breath of steady fresh air...Al Gore has nothing to apologize for, Hilary does for being in tight with the DLC.

Gore is his own man.

65. What an awesome scenario!
I'm not a Hillary hater by any means, but neither am I a big fan. She's an opportunist who supported the war and propped up * (a la Lieberman) until it was expedient to do otherwise. I like Obama, but I just don't think he's got enough experience to convince a majority to vote for him. But President Gore and VICE-president Obama...how cool would that be?

9. I don't think it was a stock photo. This a.m. on WJ Brian
made a BIG deal about getting a close-up of the cover (?) because some photographer he named had done it. Sounded like it was a recent photo. I'm sorry to say the photographer's name didn't ring a bell with me. What can I say...they did the close-up and Gore still looked good!

72. "looks"
this is a crap comment, sorry. Yes, he looks the stereotypical old-fashioned President from days gone by, but to just make the post to say he looks the most like a protective father of the nation, in effect, disparages that Obama and Hillary have no one before them in the 40some presidents who look anything like them. I suppose you think Edwards looks rather presidential out of the remaining candidates? And Bush looks human, but he was clearly hatched out of pea pod in Babs Idiot-Garden...

Looking like a president isn't enough. I'm juss sayin you should have quantified your statement by adding that he has the whole package and not just make the apparent argument he should run b/c he's the "ONLY ONE" that looks presidential...

27. Right now the corporomedia script is "Hillary/Barack v. Rudy"
And they've been working long and hard at that. It's just laughable that the race is starting this early, but the corporate-owned media knows that it's going to take a long, hard sell for the masses to accept their corporate-owned election match-up, followed by their corporate-owned election results.

The longer Big Al stays out of this circus (if he really intends to run), the better. I know at least two formerly hardcore Republicans who tell me they would vote for Gore in a heartbeat if he were an option. I know I would.

41. I think he has
But he's a lifelong savvy politico. He's playing this game to drum up the grassroots support and to let the front runners take the media feeding frenzy for a while. He does himself no favors by jumping in this early. The problem and the fine line he has to walk is being able to stoke the fire without pushing us over to annoyance. It would be easier if he didn't incessantly get "the question" but he wouldn't be getting as much press if "the question" wasn't ever present. I think he's doing a very good job at the political game thus far.

77. No, not at all!
You misunderstood my post. I understood from that movie that he gets the deeper spiritual necessity of doing whatever is necessary to save our planet. Since he spent so many years in the seat of our government and just a heartbeat away from the Presidency, he is well aware of the world changing power that position has so he will run because he knows he has a spiritual imperative to use that position to help save the planet. And, it is a win/win for him no matter how the election turns out - he can continue to be an ambassador to save the world just as he is now even if he loses the Presidency. And, I also figured out that he will run a markedly different campaign, no kowtowing to campaign managers who want to package him into some kind of milquetoast fellow that anyone would want to have a beer with - he will be the firebrand I have come to know and love since he had his Presidency stolen from him.

67. We all know you don't believe Al will run, illinoisprogressive. You make that crystal clear.
But do you have to constantly dis those of us that believe?

Try this on for size:

Obama would make a fine president, but he just won't win. But, he is afraid if he makes a definite statement that he won't win, people will lose interest. Obama supporters are in fantasyland. Such a pity. Here's proof that Obama can't win.
http://www.blackstarnews.com/?c=135&a=3263 They say so, therefore it must be true.

Why Obama Can’t Win
By Alton Maddox Jr.
April 29th, 2007

The venue that a presidential candidate chooses to announce his or her candidacy is very telling. Ronald Reagan chose Philadelphia, MS. This was the burial site for three civil rights workers slain by the Ku Klux Klan and their partners in crime, law enforcement officials.

Senator Barack Obama apparently chose Springfield, IL to announce his presidential candidacy out of deference for President Abraham Lincoln who, he might believe, actually freed enslaved Africans. This venue is probably symbolic of his political message and his positive attitude about Lincoln.

Blacks must be clear about Lincoln. Contrary to popular myth, Lincoln never freed enslaved Africans. The Emancipation Proclamation was null and void ab initio. Africans had to emancipate themselves. We are still pursuing freedom. Thousands have lost their lives or have been imprisoned.

Lincoln campaigned in 1860 to continue slavery. After he was given the keys to the White House, he advocated colonization. When it appeared that the Union was about to lose the Civil War, he fraudulently authored the Emancipation Proclamation. It was a war measure.

Lincoln also authored a constitutional amendment that would expressly support the enslavement of Africans after his presidency. Illinois ratified it and it would become law after three-fourths of the states were given the opportunity to ratify it. Compare the history of ratification of the Twenty-seventh Amendment from 1789 to 1992.
<snip>

Can you people get out there and support someone who can win? Quit wasting your breath on a candidate who's wife probably doesn't really want to be First Lady. Of course, I REALLY support Obama, but you guys, he is just NOT gonna win.
:sarcasm:

Return sanity, intelligence, and integrity to the White House.

Give the rest of the world a reason to respect the United States again.

Did you notice the posts saying they knew Republicans that wanted to vote for Gore? So... perhaps unify the Country.

Have the ability to end the Iraq war with a possible win-win for the United States and Iraq.

The world knows Al Gore, his words and actions will gain instant attention and respect.

54. They HATE it when a celebrity doesn't answer their question...
...unless, of course, it's a member of the Bush Administration.

71. my prediction: he'll wait until Fall, after the hurricane season
by then, maybe the climate change skeptics will all be on a plane headed for Paraguay and out of our way so we can do something positive for the earth for a change, like electing Al Gore as our next president!:bounce: :kick:

82. point being; extreme weather will change the political atmosphere to Gore's
advantage. That wouldn't be my first choice of ways to get elected but he and the scientists behind him did predict dire consequences if we don't do something about climate change (global warming).
The fact that we could have begun work on the process when he actually did WIN the election in 2000 - well maybe it might have made a difference.
I hope he runs and I supremely hope he wins again, with our without the disadvantage of Diebold machines, Republican wonks, etc.
However, I wouldn't blame him if he already knows that our elections are so rigged that he wouldn't stand a chance against the power brokers who are so rabidly against him (Exxonmobil with all their billions).

78. Wow and Oh My!!!
Fantastic article which only proves how much we need him as president! I voted for him once and want so much to do it again! I feel so sad that the stolen 2000 election has left him so hurt and disappointed...should we in all fairness...blame him for staying out of the race? This man could be one of the best/greatest presidents of the 21st century!
I would love a Gore/Obama ticket! :)
