Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm calls for disturbed homophobic Asst. AG to be fired
Ann Arbor, Mich. — On Thursday, the Governor of Michigan called for the state's Attorney General to fire Andrew Shirvell, an assistant who has been on an internet vendetta against gay University of Michigan student body President Chris Armstrong.

"If I was still Attorney General and Andrew Shirvell worked for me, he would have already been fired," tweeted Gov. Jennifer Granholm.

The Michigan Daily reports that Shirvell's blog posts have had titles like "Chris Armstrong: The PRIVILEGED Pervert" and "Chris Armstrong & His Bullhorn: Portrait of a Radical Homosexual Activist at Work."

Armstrong has applied for an order of protection, and Shirvell is already barred from setting foot on the Michigan campus. .............(more)

17. yeah, we were all thinking, "HOW is that guy Asst Atty Gen?" - seriously... talk about bizarre.
and the Native American complaint was interesting, something about a secret society he accuses Armstrong of being a part of that desecrates Indian artifacts, now, if any of that is real, I don't like that. Outside of that, he is stalking this kid for no reason I can tell, it's like obsession! He either has teh crazy in him that goes beyond being religious (that's the ones that don't act like Christian, Muslim, etc, and drift over into judge and jury against those they deem unholy), or he's secretly Gay - or both.

God bless Chris to be safe.... truly.

19. Attorney General Mike Cox hired him. Who else would employ an Ave Maria Law grad?
Edited on Thu Sep-30-10 09:30 PM by Bozita
Shervill sure wasn't hired into that office when Granholm was AG.

12. Two words: Due Process
It's a shame he never saw fit to extend the same courtesy to Mr. Shirvell, but it's not optional.

23. Depends on state law.
If it creates a property interest in employment, due process is necessary.

26. Is Michigan a right to work state?
If so, they don't even need a reason to fire him, at least that's how it works here in SC.

28. No, but that was one of AG Mike Cox's major issues in his run for governor
He claimed Michigan had to become a RTW state in order to survive.

14. Good! I called her office yesterday to complain.
We all sighed with relief when Cox lost the GOP primary knowing he wouldn't be in the General Election this November. He's one scary dude - who I think doesn't have a problem with wacko Shirvell's bullcrap.

29. Governor Granholm is the state former Atty. General.....
She knows the Civil Services rules and state Union based contracts, left and right...trust me. Granholm knows (as well as I do, being a former state employee and union representative) that Mike Cox could have this "idiot" Asst. A.G. placed on "Stop Order" for this behavior...yesterday. What is a stop order? Basically, the employee is placed on administrative leave (paid) until a investigation/disciplinary hearing take place, on whether the employee will keep his or her state job.

Now, as for the "Conduct Unbecoming" charge Anderson Cooper was speaking about....he is RIGHT on the money. All Mike Cox has to do is to suspend "stalker boy" with pay, pending the results of a investigation on the charge of "Conduct Unbecoming a Employee". Yes, the employee has a right to a CERTAIN level of free speech BUT to the level of your job responsibilities as an state employee.

For instance, if I was a correctional officer, off work....at the bar and some fellow bar patrons overheard me talking about how I was going to break a prisoner out of jail next week and called my supervisor, the prison or the state MDOC (MI-Department of Corrections)....guess what would happen to me? All of the actions above. I do not have a right to use free speech to the determent of my current state position.

Mike Cox knows this crap. Why is he defending this obviously sick individual is beyond me. Maybe he needs to be fired. Regardless, he needs to DO HIS DAMN JOB...and place a STOP ORDER on this "character" immediately.
