"Contrary to other reports, he has not been suspended," Cox spokeswoman Joy Yearout said this morning, after Cox's office denied to the Detroit Free Press Thursday night that Shirvell's job status had changed. "He's taking a leave of absence. It was a personal decision on his part."


Shirvell also attacks members of the media who have reported on the growing hoopla around his campaign against Armstrong.


He maintains that he produces his blog when he's not working for the state, a position that Cox backed on CNN."
