9. What you said.
Rahm helped usher in the reign of the Blue Dog and the Democratic Party's kneeling to kiss the Corporate Ring. A pox on him.

2. Neutral.
Although I've seen a lot of hatred towards him here on DU and in the media, I've never heard much that isn't anecdotal or hyperbolic to substantiate such opinion.

5. Neutral - Rahm carried out the policies of the President...
Obama makes the policies, his Chief of staff carries them out.

I never understood the enormous dislike may people have for Rahm. He carried out policy. He did not make it.

Obama runs the President like a community organizer, including his constant efforts to bring Republicans and moderates into the decision. Community organizing seeks consensus. If we wanted a cowboy to run things with a my way or the highway style, Obama was not the candidate.

8. You're kidding, right?
"A great driving progressive force."

"How Rahm Emanuel Rigged a Pro-War Congress." http://www.counterpunch.org/walsh10142006.html

"HOW RAHM EMANUEL LOST THE HOUSE FOR THE DEMOCRATS-- AND HOW ACTBLUE, MOVEON, MARKOS, JANE, DUNCAN, HOWARD DEAN AND A HOST OF OTHERS SAVED THE DAY" http://downwithtyranny.blogspot.com/2006/11/how-rahm-emanuel-lost-house-for.html

Rahm is the reason Lieberman beat Lamont. He refused to support progressive candidates in 2006 and 2008, throwing his support only to right-wing democrats. He attacked Howard Dean's 50-state strategy.

Mr. Emanuel is a great driving force, no doubt. But it's a force against progressives.

7. It depends on the role; that Obama wanted to use Emanuel for.
If it was to unite the Party and bring strong opposition against the Republicans, I would grade him as big negative.

If was to serve as a lightning rod or Fig Leaf then Emanuel gets a big positive.

Thanks for the thread, Kurt_and_Hunter.
