Bob McCarthy Unplugged
I've been posting information on the Town Supervisor of Sidney, NY, who has gathered national attention for his quest to force a tiny Islamic settlement to remove the graves of Muslims from a small cemetery. While the people have a permit (issued by the Town), Bob McCarthy has opted to tell reporters, when informed the cemetery/burials are legal, that he "doesn't know what the law is," and doesn't care.

Bob is a rabid Tea Party "activist." He has offended almost everyone in the upstate Delaware County. The Sidney Town Clerk, a republican, refuses to talk to him.

Below is a copy of a letter that McCarthy recently sent the Delaware County DWI Coordinator:

"I can’t conceive of anything as ridiculous as a “mock crash” and I also can’t conceive of anything more useless than your department. Any sixth-grader that doesn’t know what a car crash is, shouldn’t plan on graduating high ...school.

"DWI is the most over enforced law in the country. It is so vigorously enforced because of the huge fines it produces. There was a recent study done at the University of Utah (that bastion of permissiveness) that showed that a person with .08 % of alcohol in their blood stream had quicker reaction times than someone talking on a cell phone. Cell phone use while driving kills more people than drunken driving and both wars combined. The over enforcement of DWI laws has changed the social structure of the country. Most of the restaurants in our area have disappeared. Sales of alcohol subsidized food sales and even people that didn’t drink were rewarded by lower dinner prices. People are afraid of even having one drink and as a result the restaurants cannot make any money. Our country was founded in taverns. People, until recently, often stopped at a tavern on the way home from work to socialize and meet their friends, now they are afraid to do that, as there is a trooper waiting outside to arrest them. Now you can go home and correspond on the internet and as our present government keeps usurping our rights they will soon control what you can say there, that along with the current effort to control guns will make our society much weaker against any tyranny, a situation that our founding fathers tried to prevent.

"The late Bill Acheson (Oneonta attorney and judge) once had a client that was arrested for DWI and said he was trying to plea bargain. He wanted him to plead to murder 1 as the jail time was the same and he got to keep his license.

"I am sick of our Federal Government, I am sick of our State Government, I am sick of losing my rights, and I am sick of wasting tax money on useless programs that are limiting everyone’s rights. Whenever I get a chance to vote against your program you can count on me doing so. The only person that this program is benefiting is you.

"Sincerely yours,
Bob McCarthy"

1. His idiocy is stupifying.
What I find particularly scary is how he takes pride in his ignorance. There is no reasoning with someone like this. Which would be fine if he would just keep his anti-social ass at home. But that he is fomenting his sociopathic tendencies on the public through his political office is unfortunately a sign of our sick times. Thanks for shining a light on this fascist.

3. I would like to
add this to the mix as well because I think it is important. My council works hand in hand with the Delaware County Stop DWI Coordinator and the above letter/email was also sent to all of the Supervisors in Delaware County. The point being it was an opportunity for McCarthy to pound his chest publicly and put the Coordinator "in her place", and two is that every single one of the Supervisors in Delaware County sat back and did nothing about this outrageous behavior.

Now to follow that up within a few short weeks another agency obtained $11,000 to hand over to the Delaware County sheriffs department to help fund sobriety check points during prom and graduation weekends and to make sure local bars and alcohol distributors were not selling booze to under age youth, McCarthy stood up at the Delaware County Supervisors board meeting and yelled "That's entrapment!" and the group turned down $11,000 being offered to one of the poorest county's in the country and on top of which I happen to know for a fact they are the only county in NYS to have turned down the money. Once again everyone fell in line behind him.
