Luicasfilm has announced that they will be converting the Star Wars movies to 3D.

Not to be outdone, Cameron has said he'll convert Titanic to 3D.

Colorizing movies was a bad idea when Ted Turner did it with the MGM library and this seems a bad idea, too.

1. I'm convinced this is a way to make money...
Without hiring writers.

5. Actually, you can thank the pornbiz for a lot of the technology we enjoy on the intertubes today.
They had the money to develop it and developing it was in their best interest.

6. Star Wars will now be more three-dimensional than the characters in it. nt

7. I'm not convinced they *can* convert those to 3D
The space effects shots, certainly - I fully admit I'd love to see the opening shot from Episode 4 in properly-done 3D - but anything filmed with the actors can only get a really awkawrd approximation unless they reshoot everything.

9. As if 3D didn't look fake to begin with! I agree 100% right along with colorized pastel movies. nt
