All $243 Million Dollar F-35s Grounded for Software and Hardware Fixes
unhappycamper note: Since the ‘Pentagon’ (Righthaven LLC?) has ‘requested’ that I only post one paragraph from articles on Army Times, and Airforce Times, I’ve decided to give ya’ll an unhappycamper summary of the article and a link to the OP. To keep in that same (new) tradition, I will also do the same for articles on Navy Times, Marine Corps Times, stripes.com and military.com.To keep in that same (new) tradition, I will also do the same for for articles on Navy Times, Marine Corps Times, stripes.com and military.com.

To read the article in the military's own words, you will need to click the link.

Read all about Fair Use here. It sure is beginning to smell like fascism.

1. The F-35 is a waste.

We're retooling our multirole fighter slot for an aircraft which includes stealth capability, even though that's completely unnecessary for virtually all of it's duties. In the rare case when we might be facing an integrated air defense system, we've shown we can handle it using a combination of cruise missiles and much less costly dedicated strike aircraft like the F-117.

We'd do better creating a new Block 60 version of the F-16, stripping it down to the airframe and giving it a new engine and avionics. I bet you that you could trick the thing out for less than $50 million a plane.

Edit for a typo.

2. Surprise, surprise, surprise...
I can hardly believe my eyes, our vaunted military geniuses have poured billions of our dollars into a useless black hole to build a platform designed to carry out a mission better achieved by cheaper, existing weapons, to fight a war that can never be fought, against an enemy that doesn't exist.

"Nobody could've predicted this":eyes:

Welcome to the corporate welfare states of America.

I notice the chickenhawks are cravenly unreccing this notice of more billions stolen from our people to provide aid and comfort to parasites.
