"Punishing" the Dems is akin to cutting off our collective noses to spite our collective faces

Granted, the Dems haven't been able to get us exactly what we want, this is indisputable. But what's also indisputable is that the legislation they have pushed through, HCR, Financial reform, etc... moves this country towards more equitable and progressive solutions to the problems we face and provides the framework for future reform.

The question is do you want this country to build on and expand this reform or do you want to facilitate a return to power by the right wing and allow them to undo the moderate progress obtained the last two years?

On top of the legislative initiatives we have in the WH a man who is using the executive branch to also slowly but surely turn this ship of state towards policies that are more equitable and and BASED ON FACT AND REASON as opposed to the previous Republican administrations based on dogmatic adherence to right wing philosophy. Do we really wnat to cut his legs out from under him and put this administration in position of being constantly investigated for at least the next 24 months by a Repuke congress manned by fanatics solely interested in proving Obama is a Kenyan/marxist/commie?

Here is what you get with your 'punish the dems' stance:

I guarantee you, whatever problem we have with the dems will pale in comparison.

1. Which is why we always tend to do it-how can anyone think progressives are smarter than republicans
They know to vote against their enemy even if they have to plug their nose. They still have noses as a reault

8. They Are Nice Pictures
But how does one easily show Obama impeached, Health Care Reform repealed, more holds on sensible judicial nominees, etc.

Folks on DU and similar sites will go out and vote for Democrats - we're here on DU precisely because we give a crap.

It's the other 99% of people who voted for Obama that are the concern - they have trouble finding enthusiasm after two years of banker bailouts, trickle-down economics, and triangulation.

Obama failed to realize that DLC policies have always resulted in losing Congress and pushing the country to the right.

9. While I have no problem
voting for the Democratic senate candidate in my state (NC), you would have a hard time getting me to vote for Blanche Lincoln since her voting record is almost indistinguishable from her opponent's. Also, there are Democratic house members running ads BRAGGING of their hatred of Pelosi and their opposition to every Obama program from HCR to Wall Street Reform. One fellow boasted of his 80%+ voting record WITH John Boehner.

These people are going to lose, and we will better off in the long run without them. Large amounts are being spent to protect Lincoln's seat, which she is going to lose, but virtually NOTHING is being spent in NC for Marshall who had a decent shot of defeating Burr. She would be doing WAY better in the polls if the Dem leadership has spent any money on her behalf.

As long as the leadership spends HUGE amounts of money and resources defending people like Joe Lieberman, Max Baucus, Ben Nelson, Mary Landrieu etc, (especially from primary challengers) we are boned.

10. I'm staying home on election day and sending money to every candidate you show in that photo
Why? Because the Dems have screwed us, Obama hasn't saved the world in 24 months like I wanted him to, and THERE'S NO PUBLIC OPTION!!!!!!

(Brought to you by idiots who don't know how D.C. works)

12. The only Democrats I see saying they will not vote Democratic
are the Crist supporters who are active in their opposition to our Democratic candidate Kendrick Meek. For all the threads started to decry this 'not gunna vote for Dems' thing, I never see it being foisted, save for the Crist promoters, who constantly claim Meek is a 'lost cause' even as Al Gore is stummping for him, who claim that 'we hold the seat' if Crist wins, which is absurd because Crist was a Republican a few weeks ago, and has never, ever been a Democrat. In fact, he endorsed Palin, chanted 'drill baby drill' with her on stage, on TV, and he says he voted to put Palin a heatbeat away from the Oval office.
I see Crist backers here, saying they will not vote for the Democrat. The rest of the posters I see here vote Democratic. The 'moderate centrists' who back Charlie Crist say they will vote, just not for the Democrat. I find it odd that those who are panicing about the election have no visible problem with the anti Meek voters here. Campainging openly against the Democratic candidate.
