Environmental Campaigners Ax Gory Movie Starring Gillian Anderson (Embedded Link To Disturbing Vid)
Edited on Sat Oct-02-10 02:48 PM by Turborama
BBC October 2 2010

Environmental campaigners 10:10 have withdrawn a film showing a teacher graphically exploding two of her students who refuse to reduce their carbon emissions, after complaints. In a statement, the group apologised to anyone offended.

The film aimed to "bring this critical issue back into the headlines whilst making people laugh", the group said.

Starring Gillian Anderson it was scripted by Richard Curtis, whose films include Four Weddings and a Funeral. It was directed by a leading commercials director.

In the film, which was subsequently http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xx4yr0FFhMQ">posted to Youtube and which contains disturbing images, a teacher invites her class to take part in the environmental campaign. Two children, who do not want to, are asked why. The teacher tells them: "Fine, it's absolutely fine. It's your own choice."

But moments later she presses a button and the children explode into a mess.

"environmental."

To me it has become a code word for mass consumer approval from a lot of different profit-oriented industries. All of whom are happy when we give the finger to the people forced to drive in large cars because on the second hand market those are all that is affordable.

And so many out there consider themselves "environmental." From BP who used its deispersant out of "Environmental Considerations." To the makers of "Simple Green" a distrurbing cleaning product that contains oodles of ether in it. (Ether has been banned by hospital industry people, as it builds up in the boidy and caused the death by cancer of far too many anaetheticians when it was used daily on surgery patients.)

6. It sounds like
you need to stop letting corporate America define environmentalism for you. What you're describing is how corporations co-opt environmentalism, and not what actual environmentalists do.

7. I laughed at the very last scene.
But it was mostly not funny or clever. It reminds me too much of the worst stories of communist purges and killing those who confess to not supporting the party. I don't appreciate the video comparing the environmental movement to brutal communist dictatorships when the right wing crazies are already claiming global warming is a Marxist conspiracy.
