the whole Rally was fantastic. The part that moved my partner and I the most...
was when Marian Wright Edelman spoke. He,a liberal but apolitical teacher, was moved to tears,as was I.She was magnificent.her message should be broadcast nationwide. We HAVE to commit ourselves to giving these kids an education.

2. I still get tears just thinking about it...Kids are being left behind...
in search of the almighty dollar..never mind that they are our future.

5. addendum-took my son into waffle house this morning...

sat in the table next to a beautiful elderly African-American woman who had just gotten out of church-had a beautiful scarf with "Obama" embroidered into it.
I had to go over and say something.I asked her if she had seen the rally. She told me "I was there. My minister is the pastor of Friendship Baptist Church West in Dallas, and I am a senior activist.
She told me she was from DC,had gone to college there, and was a retired teacher.I told her, with tears in my eyes, how much Marian Edelman had moved me,and that I was a member of Veterans for Peace. She told me,with tears in her eyes, that her husband died last year as a veteran of 2 wars.We hugged each other, oblivious to the breakfast crowd. It was a beautiful moment.
Those are the things I will carry with me.
