Jan Brewer's son's criminal records released by judge

A Maricopa County Superior Court judge on Monday ordered the release of criminal records on Gov. Jan Brewer's son, who has lived at the Arizona State Hospital for most of the past 20 years.

Phoenix Newspapers, Inc. has been locked in a battle to unseal the documents since late June, after Brewer's office learned that the court clerk's office had inadvertently produced a portion of the case file through a records request although the records were supposed to be sealed.

Even though Ronald Brewer's file was open for nearly 20 years, it was sealed in early 2009 as it became clear that Jan Brewer would move from the Secretary of State's Office to become governor.

Judge Pendleton Gaines on Aug. 31 said that Ronald's request for privacy did not outweigh the public's right to have access to the criminal-case file, which are typically open public records.

if that was our child we could not keep the records closed. I guess those in politics can hide everything from the public.

5. I have posted about this before but here is
what I know, what I have heard, and what is questioned. Brewer's son was convicted of sexual assault and she was in one of the leadership roles in the Az. Congress and the judge decided to commit him instead of sending him to prison. That is about all that documented but many questions remain unanswered.

One person I know called into a show on KTAR back then and when he asked Brewer about it, the host said we aren't going there and cut him off with Brewer not responding. The same person later got an email from one who worked at the place the son was and told him that son didn't fit there because he didn't have the signs of being in need of being committed. All records of the son have been sealed or purged and when myself and others called to ask about it we were told that subject was taboo and could get them in trouble so they didn't talk about it.

7. If the son is mentally disordered and this caused his criminal conduct...
...that is one thing: He should be placed in a mental facility for his own safety and, foremost, the safety of the public. Mentally disordered offenders do not belong in prison for many reasons. HOWEVER...if the son was placed in a mental facility as special treatment not because of the etiology of his offending conduct, but because of who his mother is? That is bullshit and it should not have happened and the placement should be corrected. Therefore, I do support an investigation of this. There simply are not enough facilities for those who truly are criminally insane. To give a spot to the son of a highly placed state official to keep him out of the prison system, a spot that should be held instead by someone who due to mental defect cannot conform his/her conduct to legal standards ~~ this simply is wrong.

8. What I want to know is when they are going to lock up
Jan Brewer. A son always needs his mother.

10. jan brewer has got to fill ill up those prisons for profit!
Chuck Coughlin, Brewer's campaign chairman, policy adviser and a lobbyist for the largest private prison company in the country. And he's one of two people in the Brewer administration with ties to Corrections Corporation of America.

12. Lest me understand this WHY has he been locked up for 20 years
I mean usually unless there was criminal assault and life threatening issues they wouldn't put a person in jail for 20 years would they. So if they wouldn't put him in jail for 20 years why is he in a mental institution. There must be something seriously wrong with him, and they think he will go berserk again to keep him locked up. Do you think.
