Proof Positive that Privatization does Not Work and can Kill...
Edited on Sun Oct-03-10 10:00 AM by Stuart G
We often argue about this, and here, a
story from two years ago proves it. Here is proof, that Privatization Does not work

from the New York Times..

WASHINGTON — Shoddy electrical work by private contractors on United States military bases in Iraq is widespread and dangerous, causing more deaths and injuries from fires and shocks than the Pentagon has acknowledged, according to internal Army documents.

During just one six-month period — August 2006 through January 2007 — at least 283 electrical fires destroyed or damaged American military facilities in Iraq, including the military’s largest dining hall in the country, documents obtained by The New York Times show. Two soldiers died in an electrical fire at their base near Tikrit in 2006, the records note, while another was injured while jumping from a burning guard tower in May 2007.

And while the Pentagon has previously reported that 13 Americans have been electrocuted in Iraq, many more have been injured, some seriously, by shocks, according to the documents. A log compiled earlier this year at one building complex in Baghdad disclosed that soldiers complained of receiving electrical shocks in their living quarters on an almost daily basis.

It is about the shoddy electrical work on U.S. bases in Iraq.
Read it and tell your conservative friends and coworkers about it.
Quote it directly, date, author and title. Let them read it.

The Army privatized the building of structures in Iraq..
by order of George Bush..

Now the Army could have built the buildings themselves, but Bush and his friends thought otherwise.

Do you think that the Army, building its own structures would have built, safe and secure buddings for its own soldiers?

My guess is that the Army would know about safe electrical connections in buildings even if they cost more.
After all, it is for their own people.
How safe would you build a building for your own people?
How safe is the very least expensive construction you can think of?
If you ever need an argument against this, use this article..please ,thanks..

4. Also, USS Cole bombing. Cheney privatized logistics (including refueling) in 1991
and Clinton's DoD let the policy stand.

So...what happened when US military was NOT in charge of its own refueling and dependent on KBR (Halliburton)?

6. I agree, But the Army needs to be able to
build its own structures.
If they are safe, and cost some more that is ok with me.
Screw the private contractors who were responsible for the electrical fires and charge them with fraud.

7. I agree - I'm just counting what the military used to do itself
And contracts out as part of the whole problem.
