IRS: Nearly 3,000 Millionaires Collected Unemployment In 2008
Some 3,000 Millionaires Claim Jobless Benefits, IRS Data Show

According to U.S. Internal Revenue Service data, 2,840 households reporting at least $1 million in income on their tax returns that year also collected a total of $18.6 million in jobless aid. They included 806 taxpayers with incomes over $2 million and 17 with incomes in excess of $10 million. In all, multimillionaires reported receiving $5.2 million in jobless benefits.

Those numbers are a minuscule fraction of the 9.5 million taxpayers who reported receiving $43.7 billion from jobless benefits in 2008, up from 7.6 million recipients reporting $29.4 billion in benefits in 2007. Still, economists said they are surprised so many people with seven-figure incomes claimed benefits.

1. The movie industry was in the tank in Southern California for much of late 2008

And all of 2009. And movie stars have the same rights as anyone else to collect unemployment.

None of this would be happening if the Corporate-owned Tools of the World (Bush/Obama people) had put in restrictions on the Bailout Monies.

Ireland set up their Bailout programs for Big Banks such that homeowners are not losing value in their homes and are not facing foreclosure in anywhere near the amount of painful "restructuring" that we stupid Americans are. here in the USA, everything got "restructured" on the average Joe and Josie and no pain whatsoever (except for Lehman Brothers) was offered to the people at the top that caused the mess.

And Ireland also saw to it that restrictions on Bailout Monies forced the Big Banks that the Government helped to underwrite Irish Industry.

But of course, here in America, the People At the Top are the desired campaign contributors.

Whereas in Ireland, much blood has been shed for decades to return the power to the people.

4. I had to collect unemployment once in Southern
California when my place of work burned down. You wouldn't believe some of the famous faces in line with me. (That's back when you had to wait in line to get your money.)

3. Sooo? If they paid into it then they are entitled to it
like any other insurance they might pay into and collect from if the circumstances kick in that warrant it.

6. And a well-paid person could have a spouse who lost a job
It's not welfare, subject to means testing.

5. So, even people who make a LOT of money occasionally lose their jobs?
