There was absolutely nothing in the AJC about the rally yesterday
and I haven't heard any news reports, either.

How was it viewed? Anyone know?

1. St Pete Times page 12
Just picked up the McClatchy article with the "smaller size than Beck" headline.

At Lincoln Memorial, a Call for Religious Rebirth

WASHINGTON — An enormous and impassioned crowd rallied at the steps of the Lincoln Memorial this weekend, summoned by Glenn Beck, a conservative broadcaster who called for a religious rebirth in America at the site where the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his famous “I Have a Dream” speech exactly 47 years earlier.

Liberal Groups Rally, Challenging Tea Party

WASHINGTON — Tens of thousands of union members, environmentalists and peace activists rallied at the Lincoln Memorial on Saturday, seeking to carry on the message of jobs and justice that the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. trumpeted at a rally at the same site 47 years ago.

3. Not one, single mention on TV in New Orleans
Edited on Sun Oct-03-10 04:02 PM by Swamp Rat
I saw nothing on cable TV as well.

AP story in the New Orleans Times-Picayune:

(snip)

Organizers claimed they had as many participants as Beck's rally. But Saturday's crowds were less dense and didn't reach as far to the edges as they did during Beck's rally. The National Park Service stopped providing official crowd estimates in the 1990s.

5. There was an article in the Sunday AJC...
page A7, the top third of the page contains an AP article -- headline is "Progressives rally their forces". The last graf addresses the attendance figures quite vaguely, suggesting that the crowd was smaller than that of the Beckapalooza.

6. Folks I think we all KNEW from the very start that no matter
how many more people, how more enthusiastic they were than the Beckmess the Media would say we had less we didn't show heart etc etc. BUT pictures don't lie. People who attended the rally don't lie. Even without being exploited for almost four to five months ahead of time on every single solitary news station, with free busses and food and lodging from the billionaires, more did show up for this rally and we don't care what the press was made to say, we beat them But that doesn't matter what matters is with little fanfare, little time and not much free transportation the rally was a success.

One thing is certain with the role of the press and their lies, in the whole thing we know, we are sure that we are the ones who HAVE TRUTH ON OUR SIDE.

7. Widely ignored, just like the huge anti-war protests
but a teabagger gathering of almost any size or an obscure idiot threatening to burn a Koran and it's wall-to-wall coverage.

9. There was nothing in my local paper either
Not one stinking word. It's a CNHI rag, so it's hardly a surprise.
