Glenn Beck, conservative talk-show host, kicks off 'Restoring America' tour
"Restoring America One State at a Time" rally held at Six Flags Great Adventure

By KEITH RUSCITTI and COLLEEN CURRY • STAFF WRITERS • October 2, 2010

A crowd of about 700 people, comprised mostly of Tea Party supporters, gathered at Six Flags Great Adventure on Saturday to help kick off conservative talk-show host Glenn Beck's "Restoring America'' tour.

Spectators paid $50 for a ticket or $125 for special VIP privileges to listen to speeches by various conservative and libertarian activists, radio talk-show hosts and musicians in a six-hour event.

The controversial and flamboyant radio and television personality Beck was the main attraction. He went on stage shortly after 7 p.m. to a heroes' welcome.

It was the first stage performance by Beck since his Aug. 28 rally in Washington D.C., an event that attracted nearly 100,000 people.

But that event was free and was heavily marketed for months. That is in contrast to Saturday's appearance at the North Star Arena in Great Adventure, said Janet Longo, a Tea Party activist and one of the rally organizers.

"We only put this together in a couple of weeks,'' said Longo, a Jackson resident. "But I'm glad the people came out.

Although the crowd was well short of the 8,000 capacity for the arena, there was a large contingent of conservative media in attendance.

16. They probably meant buoyant...he floats!
He was actually a product of the Pillsbury dough boy. That's how he got his belly button...someone poked him to see if he was done.

He reminds me of the dough boy everytime I see him.

5. They wanted room for all the voices in attendees' heads
They didn't realize each voice didn't need a seat of its own, but Beck would have happily charged them an extra $50 each.

11. Someone took a bath on that one
This is a really good story, because it shows the actual drawing power of these folks is very small. This is not enough money generated to make for an ongoing enterprise. 35k at the gate is really not much to split up. If Beckkk and his opening acts insist on and enforce minimum fees, those who pay those fees will be wildly bitter people. If they take a percentage of the gate, well....there is no gate to speak of.

13. "an event that attracted nearly 100,000 people." You know,
the media seems to be pushing the narrative about the size of the crowd at the Beck's August rally. They're also trying to down play the attendance yesterday.

Here is the Beck rally aerial (pay attention to the territory is between the edge of the reflecting pool, the big screens and the monument):

http://airphotoslive.com/

Sure, there are a lot of people off to the left side, but here is perspective on just how many people the area between the pool's edge and the monument can accommodate:

Of course, yesterday was nothing like that. Here are the photos from yesterday:

The bottom line is that the event was well attended.

14. Like all GOPukers creations, this one was tiny and lacking in content.
I'm surprised they could hire 500 actors to act like Puker assholes on such short notice!

"NJnow: Beck talking bonhoeffer in germany, drawing comparisons to himself"

"Dietrich Bonhoeffer - German Lutheran pastor, theologian, and martyr. He was also a participant in the German Resistance movement against Nazism and a founding member of the Confessing Church. His involvement in plans by members of the Abwehr (the German Military Intelligence Office) to assassinate Adolf Hitler resulted in his arrest in April 1943 and his subsequent execution by hanging in April 1945, twenty-three days before the Nazis' surrender."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dietrich_Bonhoeffer

Yeah, sure Glennie...you are just like him. Except for maybe the Lutheran pastor, theologian, martyr, participant in the German Resistance movement against Nazism, founding member of the Confessing Church, and planning to assassinate Hitler part, I could swear you were his twin. :eyes:

And the idiots paid to listen. The only thing Beck is wanting to restore is his fat bank account.

and tries to draw a comparison. He is a mental case with a lot of money.
