Unbefuckinglievable
Edited on Sun Oct-03-10 10:42 PM by madamesilverspurs
Republican Ken Buck is running against Democratic incumbent Sen. Michael Bennet. The editorial board of the Greeley Tribune (www.greeleytrib.com) note in today's paper that Buck has a very troublesome history, and they give this brief and quite incomplete synopsis thereof:

"...His departure from the U.S. Attorney's Office years ago in Denver points to a serious error in judgment. His overly aggressive search of tax records that was ruled illegal by the state Supreme Court hints of grandstanding at the least, or at the worst, a willingness to ignore some constitutional rights to make a case. His suggesting that the VA medical system would be better privatized scares the heck out of many veterans who trust and need that medical care."

Then they endorse him.

4. Another one? Would if I could.
This particular newspaper has some very unfortunate rules for LTTEs, especially election letters. Other publications limit such letters to 200-300 words, the Trib has a 100 word limit. Once your letter is published, you're locked out of having another one published for 30 days; they call letter-writers and confirm the authorship and then state the letter will be published, but it could be anywhere from a day or two to a couple weeks before it's seen in print, and you're locked out for the duration plus thirty days. They also state that they won't publish letters from outside their 'readership' area; yet they have no difficulty publishing letters from out of the area as long as those letters are in support of the paper's endorsed candidates. Very cheesey, and it's THE newspaper in the county seat where Buck "serves" as DA.

6. The GOP going all out in their social engineering brain washing mode.
They will buy the news if they have to....or,

they already own enough of the media as it is to sway things their way....

7. Your headline sums it up. The bumperstickers that you designed

BUCK NO

put it out there in your community.
But this is unbelievable to the max. A similarly negative case was made by my town's Media General supported newspaper about the record of GWBush, as they endorsed him in 2004.

They lost a lot of subscribers over that, even in this light purple state (time will tell - X red because our state became a squeaker Obama blue in 2008 - and don't hold your breath about what's going on out there right now)

And have been faltering, cutting down, losing more subscribers, firing or laying off their columnists and in general losing their ass and their hope for a future.

The Greeley tribune shot itself in the foot.
Watch for the repercussions.

8. Another apparent attempt at inoculation:
ie, there are "issues" with this character; but not big enough issues to be telling, decisive (what rubbish).

...

The cons' election-season propaganda-bombardment of the American people is particularly intensive, ruthless and relentless this year. It's to be hoped that the resulting shellshocked-delusions don't entirely separate many voters from their senses, cause them to turn on Democrats who have served their constituencies under especially difficult circumstances (circumstances brought about, exacerbated, prolonged by the cons); vote for shameless con-artists -- and end any hope whatsoever of the necessary change taking place.

But money "talks"; and the wrong-wing, would-be plutocrats are spending vast sums to ensure their rule: from which rule it may be nearly impossible to escape, except after another, even greater disaster for the American people. Of course, these plutocrats care only about themselves, so harm to the people be damned.
