A million boomers take to the streets.
How very 'left' of them, not.

60 isn't an age it's
"A way of life"
-as per BBC report.

I've worked hard for my retirement
now it's your turn.

Wow.

Not one word when Sarkovsky and Merkel
were wailing about Greece

Not one word!

Money
Well get back
I'm all right Jack
Keep your hands off of my stack

Is there anything as quiet as the sound of nests
being feathered, and anything as raucous as the
shrieks if a feather is pulled away?

4. What's your problem?

A retirement age of 60 is very civilized, if a society is productive enough to provide this then it should be done. The only objection is from the Capitalists who see this as cutting into their profits. Who needs them?

5. Unrec. In a country in which people are getting laid off and
finding it impossible to get work (especially when they're over 50) - we should probably lower that age.

If the economy were thriving and we had adequate safety nets I wouldn't be opposed to 70 (or 62 in France), but considering what we are dealing with - billionaires raiding the treasury and hoarding the loot - I'd say we should think about lowering that age and providing medicare to all.

6. A voluntary retirement age of 60, a thirty hour work week, single payer health...
... generous welfare benefits, increased taxes on the very wealthy....

... might just pull the USA out of the shit hole we find ourselves in.

7. I'll Go You One Better
As a fan of the show "Chasing Mummies" on the History Channel and world-renowned Egyptologist Zahi Hawass, I learned that Egypt has a MANDATORY retirement at the age of 60. You can petition to get one-year extensions until you're 63, but after the age of 63, you CANNOT continue to work unless you get the permission of the PRESIDENT. I know this because on one of the episodes, Dr. Hawass was about to turn 63, had used up all his extensions, and had petitioned the President of Egypt to allow him to continue working past 63. He eventually got permission (I understand he now no longer will be forced into retirement at any age).

Stands in stark contrast to this country, where most people over 60 years old don't even have the OPTION of retirement, and will be forced to work until they die. USA! USA! USA!
