So Moe Tucker of the Velvet Underground is now a teabagger...
Edited on Mon Oct-04-10 05:16 AM by Adenoid_Hynkel
Truly disappointing, as I love the Velvets

You really have to wonder how someone was part of Warhol's factory scene, played with a hard-left guy like Lou Reed, is held up as an icon of subversion and paved the way for women in music could fall for Dick Armey and Newt's bullshit.

But Pitchfork has the video of the rock pioneer, throwing away a lifetime image of coolness, as she becomes just another cranky old Boomer whining about 'socialism':

Moe Tucker: pioneering self-taught drummer for the Velvet Underground, Tea Party supporter. Tis true. The 66-year-old Georgia resident was apparently interviewed at a rally for the controversial conservative offshoot party last April, and you can watch the news report below (fast forward to the 2:40 mark if you dare):

1. I think the "GA resident" has a lot to do with that. Some people here eventually just get tired,

give up and go with the flow. Teabaggerism is EVERYWHERE down here.

2. Noooo... Image shattered.
I, too, love the Velvets. Actually, their sonic vibes changed my life. So...i'll pretend I never saw this.

I'll be your mirror
Reflect what you are, in case you don't know
I'll be the wind, the rain and the sunset
The light on your door to show that you're home

When you think the night has seen your mind
That inside you're twisted and unkind
Let me stand to show that you are blind
Please put down your hands
'Cause I see you

I find it hard to believe you don't know
The beauty you are
But if you don't let me be your eyes
A hand in your darkness, so you won't be afraid

When you think the night has seen your mind
That inside you're twisted and unkind
Let me stand to show that you are blind
Please put down your hands
'Cause I see you

I'll be your mirror
(reflect what you are)

5. Oh well. Still a unique drummer.
No one can take her pioneer stature away from her. Not even this 65-year-old Georgian teabagger she's become.
