Jerry Brown Gains in Poll on Heels of Meg Whitman's Maid Controversy

Brown is leading Whitman by 49 percent to 44 percent with 4 percent preferring some other candidate and 4 percent undecided, according to a Rasmussen Reports poll conducted Oct. 3. The margin of error is 4 points.
Rasmussen's last poll of the race, conducted Sept. 20, had Brown ahead 47 percent to 46 percent.
Whitman is seen unfavorably by 50 percent and favorably by 44 percent, with 5 percent not sure of their opinion. Brown is seen unfavorably by 38 percent and favorably by 45 percent, with 6 percent not sure. The biggest category of voters for each is those who see Brown and Whitman "very" unfavorably - 31 percent.
