Dahr Jamail: Evidence Refutes BP's and Fed's Deceptions
Edited on Mon Oct-04-10 03:06 PM by Generic Other
In August, Truthout conducted soil and water sampling in Pass Christian Harbor, Mississippi; on Grand Isle, Louisiana; and around barrier islands off the coast of Louisiana, in order to test for the presence of oil from BP's Macondo Well.

Laboratory test results from the samples taken in these areas show extremely high concentrations of oil in both the soil and water.

These results contradict consistent claims made by the federal government and BP since early August that much of the Gulf of Mexico is now free of oil and safe for fishing and recreational use.

1. Funny how all the independent tests show such high levels
and BP's show none. The weight of evidence seems clear. BP lies. The Gulf dies.

4. Just one minor beef
The article refers to 0 ppm results. In analytical chemistry, there is no such thing, period. Not ever. Data is always reported as below a given detection limit. <15 ppb, for instance means that the lowest measurable standard used was multiplied by a factor indicating the initial and final sample concentrations, and that numbers lower than that can't be validated.

The data reported are pretty outrageously high for sure, though.

6. Or playing games with sampling
Like selecting a relatively clean sample from an area where there was no visible oil.
