Whoa, did Linda McMahon look pissed in her debate with Blumenthal or what?
This woman was pissed all thru the debate. The look on her face would have stopped a clock. Dick, on the other hand, was mostly the "happy warrier." He had fought for ordinary people again and again and he had a smile on his face.

McMahon looked really miserable throughout the entire debate. Not once (that I saw) did she break into a smile or say anything remotely happy about how life with her as a senator would make people any happier. If anything, she looked like she was the deliverer of doom and gloom. Her snark about Dick's wife's family owning the Empire STate building went over like a lead balloon.

Dick smiled and punched very nicely at Linda's smouldering persona and her record about her stand on minimum wage but mostly on what HE had done for CT people. She looked sodden and bitter .

I'm kinda amazed that Linda, with all her money, couldn't do better. She obviously has some smarts. My guess is that she was just outperformed by someone who had the goods and she didn't. She just couldn't measure up, no matter what.

Dick B. devastated her without being sexist or demeaning. She lost badly, IMO...

5. I didn't think it was a big deal either but Tweety does & he's making it
a really big deal on his show. Every thime someone talks about Blumenthal, Tweety goes into this tirade about how people who really served in the real shooting part of that war care A LOT about people who dodged the draft in one way or another. I'm glad to hear that soe others don't view this a that important.

15. I'm going to email him and tell him to lay off. Veterans groups in CT are mostly supporting him
so Tweety can complain all he wants, but it ain't gonna work. The veterans know that Blumenthal has fought for their rights, not just spouted a lot of bs. Results matter. And anyway, what Tweety says he wants Blumenthal to do -- to admit it was a mistake and say he's sorry -- is precisely what Blumenthat DID. Tweety needs to pay attention...

20. When did Tweety develop that sensibility?
Because it sure wasn't in evidence during the Bush years, that idea that people who "really served" care a lot bout people who dodged the draft. I don't remember too many tirades on Tweety's part about Bush's alleged service in the Texas Air National Guard or Dick Cheney's successful dodging of any hint of military service. I wonder why Tweety has suddenly noticed Blumenthal, who may not have seen combat but did actually put in his time in the service.

23. I've heard about it here and there, esp. with Vietnam era vets. There was a big scandal
when a VIet vet outed historian Joseph Ellis, who told fantastic lies about being a platoon leader in Vietnam, when he didn't even serve and had never set foot in Vietnam.

The problem with Tweety's applying it to Blumenthal's situation is that the vets here in CT know Blumenthal very well and love him. Blumenthal has done a LOT for them. Most of them understood that he truly "misspoke" when he said things like "when we returned from Vietnam."

Because Blumenthal actually did also say that he hadn't gone to Vietnam, but served in the Marine Reserve stateside, it makes me convinced he did just misspeak. If he were truly some sort of pathological liar he wouldn't have made contradictory statements (one time in the same speech!).

6. Politics is tougher than business
The self-dealers in the corporate world always fail to appreciate that before they get into the fray.

16. Except Bruno hates the McMahons
http://www.examiner.com/pro-wrestling-in-national/bruno-sammartino-criticizes-linda-mcmahon

Bruno Sammartino's disgust for the WWE and the McMahons has led him to make the following comments about Linda McMahon:

“I would not vote for her because I know what she contributed to the wrestling world with her husband. The vulgarity, the nudity, the profanity, all that kind of crap — it bothers me.”

14. That should make her really good at faking being pissed, too
Politics is just pro wrestling without the referee, sometimes.

8. Did she say "I know where you live, Blumenthal!!!" or hit him over the head with a chair?
Or at least threaten him with the Brain Claw? She may have been having a bad night, but unless she threatened him with the Brain Claw, she wasn't really mad.

11. Think. Some people with the type of money McMahon
has think they are superior to the "little" people. Some people like Blumenthal, Kerry, Kennedy and Roosevelt don't let it go to their heads and darn if it doesn't show.

18. I will admit that I used to watch WWF for a while and whenever there was a Linda bit we would

always turn the channel. Watching her promos was like chewing gum after it had lost its flavor. At least Vince was comfortable in front of the camera. Linda is a stick in the mud.

21. I guess when things aren't scripted like they are in the WWE, Linda doesn't know how to act.
She's probably wrestling with her decision to debate Blumenthal right about now.

22. That's her natural look.
She's a mean person. And has a HUGE ego. Have you seen her mailers? GIANT pictures of her, little substance otherwise. It's as if she's expecting people to vote for her because of what she looks like -- but she doesn't realize she looks like a shrill, mean, nasty person. Crabby Appleton. So what...she'll lose, and she'll lose big. Personally, I'm happy to see her $30 million totally wasted.

WWE's decision to briefly make her an on-screen character was one of the single worst decisions ever. What an f'ing bore.

27. Thank you, CTyankee for filling us in. We are planted there with you like the Charter Oak.
Your report cheers my heart. The "atmospherics" of a candidate during a debate, their demeanor really speaks as loudly as their words. Meg Whitman, out here in California, came off as an android and emotionless, while Jerry Brown was warm, put himself down to the delight of the audience and spoke of his love for our state.

I am pulling for you there, CTyankee. We all have to GOTV, do whatever we can now as we roll closer to the election. Blumenthal is a good guy. By the way, I love your state. :)

28. Thank you, David! And I love your state, too. I have a daughter and grandson in
the L.A. area which I really love. I love cities where there are talented, creative people and that surely is Los Angeles!

It looks like Blumenthal is rising again in the polls. Good news! Right next door, however, I have to look at a big "Linda" sign on my neighbor's lawn! They're Republicans in a neighborhood almost all Dem, and liberal Dem to boot! I guess they just want to assert themselves...
