Democrats Running ON Health Care, Not Away From It
Two days in a row now, my eyes have been drawn to an ad from an embattled Democrat that touts his support for the health care reform package. This runs counter to a lot of stories in the media about how Democrats aren't mentioning health care, aren't campaigning on it, aren't proud of it, etc. To that, I say kudos to Rep. Earl Pomeroy of North Dakota.

This is how you do it: http://bit.ly/9QE08w

1. Yesterday the 3M Company announced that it is ending its
health care program for retirees in pre-Medicare ages. While many wanted to blame the Democrats, 3M said that retirees can find cheaper health care packages on their own and that both the retiree and 3M can save money at the same time. 3M said that it will provide a health care savings account to retirees and that they can manage their choices individuals based on their needs.

The change points out the vulnerabilities of depending on employer-based health care. But between the lines it shows how we have two tiers of Americans. Those who are fortunate enough to have employer-based health care and the rest of America. Personally, I think that its a good idea to have every employer dump health care and contribute to employee health care through wages. The sooner the freebies end, the sooner we can move to single payer. When employers get out of health care, we can have an honest discussion in this country. Then everyone will be responsible for themselves, so extending Medicare to lower ages will be more acceptable.

2. Poor, poor Earl...
Campaigning in support of laws that make Americans the slaves of Big Insurance is not a good idea.

6. Republican Pat Toomey makes a campaign video out of this: Joe Sestak supported
the big bailouts, government run health care and increased taxes on the rich....etc, as reasons why Sestak is bad...
These are the precise reasons I am voting for Joe Sestak...I think the polls show Sestak ahead since that ad started running...Good work, GOP! (assholes)
