I Hate Republicans

by BooMan

Tue Oct 5th, 2010 at 12:00:31 PM EST

Why do we have to put up with this crap?

A bill introduced by Sen. Don White, R-Indiana, would prohibit private health insurance plans sold in Pennsylvania's state "exchange" -- created under the new federal health care law -- from offering abortions and require rape victims to report the crime within 72 hours in order to receive an abortion.

The insurance exchanges, which don't go into effect until 2014, will serve those who do not have access to employer-based health plans, including the unemployed and small business employees.

Under the law, any health insurance plan that contracts with the exchange must create a system to ensure no federal funds are used for abortion coverage -- including the collection of two separate payments from the beneficiary, one for abortion coverage and one for all other health care coverage.

The proposed bill would deny insurance plans participating in the exchange from covering abortions except in cases where the pregnancy was caused by rape or incest, or where the life of the woman is in danger.

The bill would require also rape survivors to personally report the crime and identify the assailant, if known, within 72 hours in order for their health insurance to cover an abortion procedure.

Because, you know, so many women make false accusations of rape so they can receive a subsidy to provide for their abortion.

1. And if the assailant is unknown?
I guess they are out of luck.

5. That's part of the point. Many victims
never want to come forward, but to require this? It's just disgusting, and whose business is it? Why is the state getting involved at all?

3. I'm baffled and depressed that the Republicans/Tea Baggers are even taken seriously
let alone on the verge of so many electoral victories next month.

We're in an upside-down world and I don't see it recovering any time soon. :evilfrown:

4. It's all that money from unknown sources being dumped into
states to brainwash the masses. Most people don't realize what's going on unfortunately. :(

8. I agree
What's depressing is I feel so powerless to change that, like I'm alone with a broom attempting to sweep back a tsunami.

10. Grotesque. And rape victims' and abortion rights are airily compromised at every R whim.

These are core human, and thus supposed Democratic issues. Somehow we've arrived at a point where the idea that witholding critical care for vulnerable women is perfectly okay, if there's a "religious objection" to it.

12. I don't hate.
Hate is destructive and counter productive. It's not possible to hate and "be the change I want to see," since I'd like to see a world without hate.

That doesn't mean I don't strongly oppose words, actions, and policies that are harmful to the best interests of the people and the planet. I do. It's possible to oppose what's bad for us without hate.

14. "I hate Republicans" is part of why liberals are mistakenly perceived to be disinterested.
You just can't argue with them anymore. It's a pointless futile effort. The stupid is too deep set and ingrained.

I don't care anymore just point me to a voting booth.

15. I wouldn't say I "hate" them, because "hate" is what they do and what they are about. I will say

that I strongly disagree with them. Or that I think they are backwards racist pricks. But I think that every human life should be granted at least a minimum of dignity and/or respect... even people whose views I think are fundamentally wrong, lol.
