UPS will add 50,000 holiday jobs

United Parcel Service Inc. plans to add about 50,000 jobs during the holidays this year.

The Atlanta-based package shipping and supply chain giant told Atlanta Business Chronicle 2,000 of those jobs are in Georgia.

Last year, it added about 50,000 holiday jobs. The number of applicants for those seasonal jobs spiked 40 percent last year, UPS said.

The majority of the jobs are part-time and include driver helpers and package handlers.
GOOD NEWS for a change!

1. Seasonal jobs aren't necessarily long-term "good news."

Good news would be a desperate call for applicants, rather than the number jumping 40 percent last year.

ETA: Those are good seasonal jobs to have, though, if you can hack it.

3. maybe not long-term "good news" ...
but if you've been out of work and been on the receiving end of all those failed unemployment extensions, it helps.
