1. I didn't see it, but from the posts, I'm thinking DeFazio has some great campaign footage,
not to mention that it'll probably be all over the other MSNBC shows tomorrow! Eagerly awaiting video!

Rachel Rocks! She's probably the only one who could have pulled this off because she's able to be objective and not let her ego get in the way.

34. Why do you think O'Donnell, Angle and the other teabagger candidates don't want to be on her show?
They're so used to functioning in their teabagger world bubble and getting softball questions from Faux Snooze and the other RW media that they're totally unprepared to answer the kinds of questions they should be prepared to answer from a Rachel Maddow.

Rachel's media skewering of Rand Paul after the primaries should have sent a signal to the rest of Teabagger Nation that you don't want to appear on her show because she'll give you enough rope to hang yourself from things you've said or supported in the past.

My take on the teabaggers is that they've been incubating for 20-30 years by listening to Limpdick, Sean Insanity, Glen Beckkk and the like. Now, they feel empowered to go to the next level and publicly display their ignorance on the issues at public forums and by running for high-profile offices. The reason they haven't been humiliated back to the holes that they crawled out of is because too many media have been pumping them up as being more credible than they should be. Teabaggers are angry about everything, yet they support candidates and carry the water for the people and corporations causing the problems they're angry over.

Years in his little anti-science, anti-logic bubble, all nice and snug in a crowd of like-minded followers. Then along comes Rachel and her patented Lance of Logic™, so he raises the first solid object he can find: Satellite Delay Is A Government Conspiracy.

He's a couple of beers short of a six-pack.

8. she was so "sarcastic", he kept telling her so.
I hope a lot of the voters up in Oregon were watching this or see it on the net.

As the interview progressed I felt increasingly uncomfortable.I've never had a high opinion of republicans but it looks like the party's powers that be have given up completely.
This guy made the half governor look like a Rhodes Scholar.

Kudos for Rachel for the way she handled this segment.

Edited on Thu Oct-07-10 09:57 PM by jaysunb
I live less than a mile from the main campus, so my neighborhood is full of "Techies" as they are known locally, and some are pretty radical politically. Some, not all.
Also have more than a fair share of racist too....:(

I would expect more of them to be liberal.
I've never talked politics with the Cal Tech Profs and scientists in my neighborhood.

that are off to the right, are really out there.

And yes, I always thought scientist would be all for Government funding, but when you look around the neighborhood at the yard signs year after year, you begin to get the picture.

I'm stumped.

23. read his wiki page and he doesn't sound like much of a scientist
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arthur_B._Robinson

He is the founder, president, and professor of chemistry at the Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine

Art Robinson was an undergraduate chemistry student at Caltech and received his Ph.D. from the University of California San Diego. He was appointed to the faculty of the University of California (in San Diego) immediately after getting his Ph.D.<1> from which he resigned in 1972. In the Spring of 1978 Robinson gave speech at the Cato Institute in San Francisco, deploring the government funding of science as harmful to the independence that is essential to scientific inquiry. In 1973 Robinson co-founded the Institute of Orthomolecular Medicine in Menlo Park, California along with Linus Pauling and another colleague. In the Summer of 1978, Pauling removed Robinson from the Institute of Orthomolecular Medicine. Robinson sued for slander, breach of contract, and fraud. The case was settled out of court with Pauling paying Robinson $575,000 in 1980 (about $1,350,000 in 2010 dollars). Robinson is also critical of Pauling's 1958 claim, that continued nuclear testing would kill "millions of children". Robinson is a signatory to A Scientific Dissent From Darwinism, a petition produced by the Discovery Institute that expresses skepticism about the ability of natural selection to account for the complexity of life, and encouraging careful examination of the evidence for "Darwinian theory".

He sounds like a wonk. A wonk with some research ability and a PhD, but even in sciences you get a few cranks. He sounds like he's worn out his welcome a loooong time ago with the regular research community. Linus Pauling not a guy you wanted to stop researching with.

11. This is what the teabaggers have done...
since the beginning. They shout over you, cut you off, call you names, accuse of things that aren't true..etc. It's in their playbook. Just look at the town all meetings from last summer. Their message survived ours died, hence the watered down health care bill. And when they're called out on their bullshit they whine about the main stream media being bias, and "picking" on them. That trend was started by the very thin skinned mama grizzly. She likes to talk shit, but she can't take it.

They're all weak sniveling cowards.

22. And here's to you, Dr. Robinson
And here's to you, Dr. Robinson
Rachel owned you more than you will know (Wo, wo, wo)
You're a nutjob, Dr. Robinson
Over exposed to nuclear waste
(U, U, U ...Pu, Pu, Pu)

Rach' wants to know a little bit about your point of view
Rach' wants to read some stuff you wrote yourself
Look around you all you see are governmental lies
AIDS and global warming brought out your gnome

And here's to you, Dr. Robinson
Rachel owned you more than you will know (Wo, wo, wo)
You're a nutjob, Dr. Robinson
Over exposed to nuclear waste
(U, U, U ...Pu, Pu, Pu)

You can't hide your opinions where no one ever goes
Now everyone knows that you're a cupcake
It's no longer a secret, you've said them on the air
Most of all, you've shown why the 'pugs kept you hid

And here's to you, Dr. Robinson
Rachel owned you more than you will know (Wo, wo, wo)
You're a nutjob, Dr. Robinson
Over exposed to nuclear waste
(U, U, U ...Pu, Pu, Pu)

Sitting by a camera with a satellite feed
Spewing meanness at the speed of light
Laugh about it, shout about it
Your words are pure refuse
Ev'ry way you look at it, you lose

Where have you gone, Civility
A nation turns its tired eyes to you (Woo, woo, woo)
What's that you say, Dr. Robinson
Listening has left and gone away
(Hey, hey, hey...hey, hey, hey)

(Yeah, I posted it in another thread. Guilty. But hey, I worked really hard on this.)

She read his exact quotes back to him, asking him if he said them, yes or no, and he said she was "sarcastic". He doesn't know the meaning of the word.
