My Pix From the Rachel Maddow Show from the Deer Park Tavern on Tuesday, 10/05/10

Mt comments on the pix tell the details, but to sum it up, the thing I found most impressive was Rachel's laid back, yet intensely focused demeanor.

Now I can see how she manages not flip out on the RW idiots she interviews. She is rather Barack Obamaesque in her coolosity.

I didn't get to speak to her, but it was a real thrill to see her in person. And, it was interesting to see how they did the show.

I'm amazed at how one can work and concentrate on what appears to be some chaos. Wonderful pics...

11. I love the mood it evokes. Wish we had him running things now. Not Obama bashing, but FDR
really prided himself on his liberal principles.

It was fun, even though it was like a pressure cooker in there!

6. Great pictures. So happy for you that you got be there
I spent many, many hours in the Deer Park when I was going to UofD back in the early 80s. There was no upstairs bar at the time.

I need to go back for a visit.

thanks again for sharing. :hi:

14. Even though we live pretty close to there, I think I'd only been there once before. Ages ago. I
don't remember if it had an upstairs bar or not. I do remember it feeling smaller on the inside. I'm not sure what renovations they've made, but it's really pretty nice.

Upstairs now is the bar area and an adjacent dining room. Plus, the porch area, with tables as well.

So, what's Dr. Biden's relationship to the university? Did she teach there, or go there, or am I imagining things again?

15. I don't think the place has ever stopped. It's practically *on* the DU campus, and the partying
college kids do seems never to diminish. We can't keep up with them anymore, but after seeing how nice the place is these days, hubby and I will definitely go back for dinner or to check out one of the live bands.

8. So, did she do any bar-tending?
Before or after the show of course. :-)

10. No bar-tending. As a matter of fact, she only entered the room about 5 minutes before the
show began! I guess she was secreted in another room, preparing? I guess she didn't want to get the crowd too riled up before they started.

Immediately after the show, she was mobbed by practically everyone in the room wanting autographs, handshakes, or any kind of personal interaction with her. I had to go out for some air, but she hung in there for pretty long. I ran into the local woman they'd hired to do Rachel's make-up who said that she'd never seen anyone like Rachel. She said something like, " She just stayed there talking to the people and had me take off her makeup right there."

Love her!!
