Plus, I've found that most (not all) people can be asshats in one or two areas but have valuable insights in other areas. I have 7 people on ignore and they had to really, really prove that they had no redeeming features for me. I hate to cut off full dialogue with anyone because I'm not looking to have a choir of likeminded singers agreeing with me, I want people to challenge my point of view. I've learned and changed plenty since being here and I don't see how that would have happened if I put every disagreeable cuss on ignore.

10. I had that argument with a moderator.

I called the poster a liar and the poster altered on me. The moderator said you can't call a liar a liar. So, I alerted on all his posts. About half got deleted, like mine.

Then the poster kept PMing me with nasty e-mails. He stopped when I ignored his mail.

But I still think you should be able to call a liar a liar.

They were truly vicious and false. Luckily the poster who did them is now gone.

That person hated me and did everything possible to hurt me. It wasn't political either, but personal. Ugh.

As a mod, I can safely say that I personally cheered a few PAs that I deleted or supported being deleted.

The new alerting system has really limited the grinding fights that used to commonly occur, but when those were going on it was sometimes easy to see who was being a jerk and who wasn't, even as both sides of the conflict were being deleted for personal attacks and such.
