Pink Floyd Wants Bush Impeached

Submitted by davidswanson on Sun, 2007-05-20 02:36. Impeachment

Read it in the Palm Beach Post:
http://www.palmbeachpost.com/blogs/content/shared-blogs/palmbeach/streeter/entries/2007/05/roger_waters_se.html

"(It must be noted that the music in the first and second halves of the show were supplemented with several pointed political statements, including the slogan "Impeach Bush Now!" and "Good Riddance" in reference to departed British Prime Minister Tony Blair on the pink hide of the giant pink balloon that floated through the stage. It's acknowledged that Waters has very strong political beliefs, although one wonders what the reaction was of fans who share his musical tastes but not his political ones.)"

(my note: What an ignorant statement! ..("fans who share his musical tastes but not his political ones.)"

like Waters hasn't been political for decades!
where do they find these lame brain writers?
(BTW, Which one is Pink?)

25. I saw that concert
'Animals'...
I adore Pink Floyd but their Animals tour really wasn't one of their best live shows. Oh well I still saw them LIVE:bounce:

Pittsburgh Civic Arena, They started into Breathe and the dome opened releasing a mushroom cloud.

23. I think the band said that Pink Floyd finally came to an end with the Live 8 performance
Edited on Mon May-21-07 06:06 PM by brentspeak
The four members wanted the saga to end on a positive note, and the Live 8 performance allowed for that.

24. Yes, they did.
They turned down half a billion dollars to tour together.

28. See post 26...
There is still hope. Maybe not hope of a major tour, but there could be more charity shows and possibly even an album.

26. Well the way Waters talks there is still a chance at another reunion

PINK FLOYD star ROGER WATERS is keen for his bandmates to perform together once more, despite reports of the rockers' continuing animosity towards each other.

The WISH YOU WERE HERE veterans have shared a famously stormy relationship since first rocking the charts in the 1970s, but Waters is convinced their celebrated LIVE 8 (02JUL05) appearance will not be their last reunion.

He says, "I really loved it. I hope we do it again.

"If some other opportunity arose, I could even imagine us doing DARK SIDE OF THE MOON again - you know, if there was a special occasion. Something with a political or charitable connection.

"It would be good to hear it again. Live 8 was so great. "

http://www.contactmusic.com/new/xmlfeed.nsf/mndwebpages/waters%20pink%20floyd%20will%20be%20back

To be clear Waters has said they are NOT going to do a major world tour. If they were to perform again it will be for "political reasons" at specific benefit shows, in fact he has even suggested the possibility of another Pink Floyd album just no tour. We will see what happens though, I know Waters is busy touring now but maybe we will hear something more after the tour is over.

4. Do ya think they'll get hate mail like the Dixie Chicks did?
I love OLD Pink Floyd, (Wish You Were Here and earlier with Umma-Gumma as my fave), and now I love them even more for this! You know, I have never been a big fan of the Dixie Chicks but I grew much more attracted to them BECAUSE of what they endured for speaking out. I hope this sort of thing becomes common throughout the music industry.

I was unaware that Pink Floyd is out doing shows again. KEWL! My first ever concert was Pink Floyd in 1970 (69? 71?...well somewhere back then just prior to Umma-Gumma's release)

5. "They," that is, the bank Pink Floyd, isn't, actually doing shows again, per se.
David Gilmour tours, performs Dark Side of the Moon along with some original solo stuff, then it's Roger Waters' turn to tour, do DSOTM...
Last year at the Waters' show in L.A., the pig had the word "impeach" written across it's side. Kewl, indeed.

19.  I went to see CSNY last year with impeach the president
I was great and a bit sad hearing the old songs that still apply and the new ones .

I saw them at the hollywood bowl right near where we live . I could not get photo's of that concert and know the reason why , disney now owns the bowl and the bowl has become a steril sick joke from what it used to be .

I don;t know how their tour affected people , there were both old people like me and young , at the end as everyone was filing out all I saw was cell phones and heard talk , nothing about the concert just biz as usual .

38. Pink Floyd
Pink Floyd was a big influence in my life. I still listen to their music at least once a week. There's just something about their music that inspires and speaks to me.

K&R

I think Pink is more Roger Waters than anyone else.

39. Pink Floyd was definitely a full, working band, at least until "The Final Cut"
Edited on Tue May-22-07 04:04 PM by brentspeak
Sometime during "Animals", Waters assumed the unofficial role of Pink Floyd's primary songwriter and conceptualist. Rick Wright's role in the band was minimized during the making of the "The Wall" album, too. But Nick Adams was still drumming on 95% of all the tracks, and David Gilmour remained a major musical collaborator. So they were still, more-or-less, "Pink Floyd" up through "The Wall" tour. By the time for "The Final Cut" album, though, Adams and Gilmour were reduced to session-men for Waters, as Wright had been reduced earlier.
