WHY I VOTE
I hear a lot of politicians especially on the Dem side trying to urge voters not to stay at home this midterm election season. And I realize there are some who will choose to stay at home. I felt extremely distressed at the thought of anyone especially a member of the Democratic Party sitting at home during elections. So I wondered what would it take to get them to realize staying at home will be an option of choice to return to the old ways of doing business and any progress made would be for nothing.

So this is why I vote.

I vote because it is my right. It is also my voice.
When I see people unemployed,I must vote.
When I see people without health care,I must vote.
When I see people losing their homes by the millions,I must vote.
When I see people in tent cities,I must vote.
When I see unjust wars,I must vote.
When I see soldiers come home injured or with PTSD, I must vote.
When I see children in a society that cannot read or have a lack of education skills,I must vote.
When I see corporations taking over our political Democracy,I must vote.
When I see Big Oil and the Mining Industry allow people to die because of lack of safety regulations, I must vote.
When I see people wearing teabags on their hats screaming " They want their country back", I must vote.
When I hear republican politicians say they want to cut or review minimum wage,I must vote.
When I hear republican politicians say they want to cut or privatize SS,I must vote.
when I hear any politician go against anything that is for the better good of the country, and vote themselves a pay raise,I must vote.
When I hear a politician who doesn't believe in climate change or global warming, then I must vote.
When I hear republican politicians say the top 2% are the job creators and I know they haven't created anything in forty years,I must vote.

When I read and hear all of things that I feel are wrong in this country,it lets me know there is work to do.Yes I am tired. I am also tired of people and friends telling me to not spend my time on politics its useless. These are the same family and friends when they need to know what is available through Government programs,I am the go to person.
When I vote,I not only vote for myself but for the betterment of my country, state, city, and its residents.I vote because my Country and my fellow man are important to me. I hope you will come out and vote your voice.

4. LOL SO and I were just talking about that last night because I had been hiding that I voted
from my mom until 2004, image thing, after the Kerry run mom said I had no right to complain about anyone in office because I didn't vote, SO ruined it by telling mom hey we stood in line for 4 hours to vote, mom looked shocked, she then asked when I started voting, I said 79, mom, why didn't you tell me, ahhhhhhhh because its no ones business if I vote or not? Hey I enjoyed the joke that my family knew less about me then complete strangers, besides mom can't deal with the fact that I'm more responsible then the rest of my siblings because I did all kinds of dumb things 74% of my life whereas my siblings did as they were told. A long story with my family history.

7. Here's the text of an email I received from an African-American friend
Thought I should share this and maybe DUers can create an email and forward it on as well. Sort of a "make it go viral" attempt.

---

WE MUST VOTE ON NOVEMBER 2nd LIKE OUR LIVES DEPEND UPON IT, BECAUSE THEY DO!!

The Republican party has embraced dangerous, radical hate-mongers called the "Tea Party." They are led by Glen Beckkk and Sara Palin whose only goal is to take down President Obama. These people hate Blacks, they hate Latinos, and minority groups of all sorts. They have at times made many anti-Semitic statements. They hate gays, and any moderate Republican who might be likely to cooperate with President Obama, AND THEY DESPERATELY HATE OUR PRESIDENT.

Their rallying cry, "We want to take back our country!" Take it back from who? American soil remains fresh with the blood of our African-American ancestors who fought and died for our right to vote.

The polls so far say Republicans are going to win enough votes to take over the US House and maybe the Senate because Democrats lack the enthusiasm to vote. WE MUST GET AS MANY AND MORE PEOPLE TO THE POLLS AS WE DID DURING THE 2008 NATIONAL ELECTION.

We want your enthusiasm, but WE NEED YOU TO VOTE. We need you to vote out of fear. Fear that these radicals will take this country back to Jim Crow, fear that the virulence of the Ku Klux Klan will once again be the order of the day. You don't think this could happen? Just stay home on election day, and gamble on what happens to this country if we allow the leadership to change.

Don't leave the voting to the other guy. Vote a straight Democratic ticket for your U. S. Senator, Congressman, AND Governor.

Like African drums calling out across America, reach as many people as you can!

We can't break this chain message or we may find ourselves in chains once again.

VOTE NOVEMBER 2nd!!

---

Again, if you so choose, consider creating an email and forwarding it on. Thanks!
