1. For other states, check to see if there is a grace period
If you missed registering (or changing your address, whatever), there may still be time to do it. In Illinois (where the race for senate is ultra-tight), you can still register even though you may have missed the official deadline. Info for Chicago here:

Grace Period Registration & Voting
If you missed the standard October 5 voter-registration deadline, there's a safety net! Through Tuesday October 26, you may register to vote, update your address or file your name change during the "Grace Period." However, during the "Grace Period," you must register in person and then immediately vote during that same visit. Please bring two forms of identification. By law, the "Grace Period" program must end on October 26.

4. Dumb question: do I need to re-register if I voted in the last election and my info hasn't changed?

7. Actually, in Maine, you can register at the polls.
Last time I was a poll watcher, a young couple came in and found that they had both been removed from the rolls. They were Hippie/Rainbow folks, which might explain why it happened. There are still a few Redneck assholes who would do that, unfortunately, but the registrar got them registered and told them to fill out a ballot. It was counted because I stayed to watch the count, so I could get it to Dem HQ ASAP.
